Post Posted: Thu Jun 30, 2016 5:48 pm      Post subject: I found this list (confessions in the Suderwa parish??)

Dear Forum friends,

When browsing through the LDS microfilms online I found a list with the normal births, marriages and deaths for the year 1865 (in Russian). It appears to be confessions in the parish (by village and names??) I figured I'd put this here, as I obviously don't need a whole record translation. I'd just like to know what exactly the list is and what information it contains. Perhaps proof that parishioners made there Easter duty??

Thanks in advance for your help,

Hugh

Post Posted: Fri Jul 01, 2016 7:28 pm      Post subject: Marcin Michalkiewicz 1874 death record
Reply with quote

My friends,

In an effort to become more self sufficient in finding Russian records I have been bulking up on recognizing handwritten Russian forms of my ancestral Polish names. This is very important given that from 1848 onward all records from the Wilno area were seemingly mandated to be kept in Russian.

I have been looking through the Suderwa indexes for death records of some direct descendants in particular Marcin Michalkiewicz and his wife Marianna nee Subotowicz (my 3rd great grandparents). I have both birth records she was born in 1809 and he 1810 both in Suderwa parish.
The record that is attached #69 is for a Michalkiewicz aged 65 at the time of death. The first column appears to be the name Marcin and the 2nd column looks like it contains the name Marianna Subotowicz for the name of a widow. I have found birth records for Marcin's children: Urzula b. 1834, Wincenty b. 1837, Jozef b. 1840, Maryanna b. 1843, Stanislaw b. 1845, and Jan b. 1847. If these children are listed it would only help to confirm his identity, and I can be proud to have on my own found my first Russian language record.

Here's hoping I'm right.

Thanks for the help Smile

Hugh

These should be children of Julian Niedzwiecki and Katarzyna Sidorska Niedzwiecka. Thank you for your help in translation. No hurry, so don't feel you have to rush.

No. 237, likely Stanislawa, b. 1897

No. 16, likely Joachim, b. 1893

No. 225, b. 1889, likely Helena or Halina.

No. 122, d. 1902, Stanislaw?
