Hello Archangel,
Welcome to PolishOrigins! Do you know if there is a connection between your Grandfather Tomasz Obrochta, born 1887, and Jozef Obrochta, born 07 Mar 1889 in Stare Bystre, baptized in Czarny Dunajec 19 Mar 1889 (son of Bonawentura Obrochta and Karolina Baniak [?] ? I'm not related but came across Jozef Obrochta's church marriage record when looking for another church marriage record some months ago. Jozef Obrochta married Maryanna Mazur from Wroblowka, baptized in Czarny Dunajec 15 Aug 1888 (daughter of Jakub Mazur and Rozalia Stolarczyk) on Feb 15, 1915 in Chicago. Sponsors were Ferdinand Mazur and Franciszek Krozel. Jozef Obrochta died on 07 May 1927 in Chicago at age 38 years and was buried in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL.

I assume he is the Joseph Obrochta who lived as boarder with Joseph Kowalkowski and his wife when the 1910 Chicago Census was taken. Other boarders were Joseph Jakubiec, Rosie Jakubiec, and Joseph Fudala, all familiar names occurring in the region around Nowy Targ.

I wish you good luck with your research.

Obrochta is a pretty common name for Stare Bystre. I have a Carl (Carolus) Obrochta in my family tree who was born 7 Aug 1862 in house 125 in Stare Bystre. He would be the right age to be your g-grandfather. Unfortunaely, I don't have any information on his wife or children. Carolus had a brother Andreas and a sister Marianna. His parents were Martinus Obrochta and Agnes Takuski.
