Post subject: Dec family in Rzeszow, Trzebuska, Sokolow
I am looking for information on my grandmother and her side of the family. Her name is Katarzyna Dec. She was born in 1893. She was born in the Rzeszow area. I have a copy of her birth/baptismal certificate in Latin and Polish. I do not think this is the original because there is an entry on the bottom that is dated 1938. From what I can make out on, it says she was born in Trzebuska. The certificate also has a district of Kolbuszowa. For the parish it looks like it Sokolow. It is very difficult to read. I would have to guess it is suppose to say Sokolowie as there is also a stamp on the certificate that looks to be an official stamp certifying the document. The stamp says Urzad Parafialny O.L. Sokolowie.
She immigrated to the US sometime in the late 1900s or early teens. She is believed to have immigrated into the Pittsburg Pennsylvania area and later moved to Detroit where she was married in 1914. She did file for American Citizenship and her papers list her home town as Zmyslow.
If you have any information that would relate to the Dec family from Rzeszow, Trzebuska or Zmyslow I would greatly appreciate you contacting me.

Not sure if I've written to you before, so if I did "delete" me. I have Dec family members from IL...from Rzeszow as well. My g'father was Wojciech (called himself George in US) Dec from Nienadowka, Kolbuszowa, Rzeszow. I wrote to the archives and they told me they have a record of him and his 4 siblings with last name of Chorzepa. I believe there was a relative that we would visit in Indiana...Walter and Katie. I'm wondering if that was his sister. Any of this sounding familiar? Connie

Hello! I'm also looking for my family roots. My name is Przemyslaw and whole family came from Lezajsk, Przeworsk and Zyrakow. I have check out all registers and found some information. Most of Dec family members still live in Lezajsk. You both mendtioned aboud members of Dec family who emigrated to United States. My father told me about his sister who had emigrated to U.S.A. after World War II and died in car crash about 50s. Unfortunately I don't remember her name but I will ask my father - I'm sure he still remembers. Maybe some of you is her descendant? Her son and my cousin fought in Vietnam as US Army soldier. My grandfather Wawrzyniec Dec, her father, died in 1952 in Poland.

I too am looking for Dec family in the Sokolow area...My ancestors come from Gorno/Kamien area just north of Sokolow. I have an Anna Kielb and Sebastian Kosak that had a daughter Marianna. I assume she married into th Dec family however I am not sure. Anna Kielb was the 2nd wife to Sebastian so it is very possible Anna Was married to a Dec before Sebastion making Marianna's last name Dec. Does anyone have a family member with the name Marianna Kosak or Dec?

Post subject: Dec name
I have a Great Grandmother (Julianna) whose maiden name was Dec; her mother was Marianna Dec (maiden name Suchodolska)from Rembielin. Julianna married Stanislaw Kuta or Kuczynski from Rycice in 1869. That's as far as I have gotten in my research.
