Thanks for the info.

My dad told me his name, but we don't know anything else about him. That was my dad's grandfather. My grandfather was born in the U.S. My father told me that public records were destroyed during the invasion. I don't know when my grandfather was born or died. I never knew him. I might have seen him once or twice when I was a kid. I can't find anything on ancestory.

I can't remember his name, but one of my relatives fought in the Russian Army.

I just checked Ellis Island's web site. He was not on the passenger list for that date and ship.

Sorry........a mistake on ancestry.com!

When tracing family, it's best to work from present generation & go backwards. By obtaining records for each generation, they will hopefully provide information about the previous generation. So let's start with your dad & then go to your grandfather, then great grandfather, Alexander.

Where & when was your dad born? Where did he grow up? Does he still live in the same county? State?
His birth record will show names of his parents & should show their ages @ the time of his birth. It may also show where his parents were born.

If you prefer, "pm" me with the answers.

PS. Does Harrison, Hudson, NJ ring any bells??
