My father, Jan Urbanek, was Polish, born on 31.3.1916 in Bakow Gorny, Poland. His father was Klemens Urbanek who married Marianna Galinska on 12 Nov 1902 in Stary Waliszew, Poland. Klemens father was Wincenty. My father was a prisoner of war in 1939 in Lamsdorf, Stalag V111b, and was eventually sent to work as a prisoner of war on my mother's German farm. My mother was only 16 when they first met on the farm. After running away to rejoin the Polish army, he came back for her after the war and they married in 1949. i would like to learn more about my father's life and where his ancestors originated from as I believe the surname is actually Czechoslovakian. |
