Forgot to mention that on Eva's husband, Michael Dolinski's death rcd, Eva was not mentioned as married to him or anything of him being married or being widower. Just name of daughter, Marianna, as identifying body. I have looked in subsequent years to see if Eva remarried but w/o luck; however did not go back and check other village parishes other than Kcynia. The daughter, Marianna, married a Lipinski a few years later.
I have kept the LDS films locally so I may have to go back and recheck them; although, I've already done that. Maybe third time's a charm!
Thanks, Shellie & Dave, for info. Dave, since no Brzyskorzstew rcds are available before 1830, that could be why I haven't found birth or marriage rcds for Eva. My maternal grandfather, Franciszek Zielinski was born in Gorki Zagajnie, baptized in Brzy. Parents, Johann Z. & Antonina Komasa Wisniewski (she'd been widowed).
Shellie, did notice that on a male Zientara's marriage rcd, his wife's first name was actually her mother's, proven in a subsequent child's birth rcd. Sad to say that when I gathered this info many yrs ago, I only made copies of my direct line (gr.parents). However, I do have all transcribed--births and deaths of children from 1820-1841. sponsors when listed, plus other, though few, Zientara's in area. Only possibility for her father would be Jaob but do not find an Eva, only a Constantia in 1801 in Malice. Sponsor names listed were Lipinski, Kazmaurowski, Biskupski(&-a), Radicki(&-a), Wikaski, Chaszynska, Sas, Kielibrandzina, Wawzyniak(&-a), Karzawianka, Tadzynski, Wrobleski, (&-a) and Wolinska. I treid to attach my list but my computer wouldn't let me. Thought maybe those names would be familiar w/someone.
Thanks again, Mary

Mary,
A very real possibility is that the marriage may have taken place in the parish of Brzyskorzystew to the south and east of Kcynia. Villages not far distant from Kcynia and Zurawia like Gorki Zagajne, Gorki Dabskie and Retkowo all belonged to the parish of Brzyszkorzystew. If her family lived in one of those villages or another village which was part of the parish of Brzyskorzystew the marriage probably took place there since marriages usually took place in the parish of the bride. Unfortunately, the parish church there was destroyed by fire in 1826 and the parish records were destroyed along with the building. This is the reason that the film records for that parish do not exist prior to 1830. If this is the case, the marriage record no longer exists. Many of my ancestors and their extended families were from the parishes of Slupy, Kcynia, Szubin and Brzyskorzystew and there are individuals with the same surnames as my ancestors who resided in the parish of Brzyskorzystew. They may very well be relatives but the records which would prove the relationship have not been found and I have come to believe that it is very possible that those records were among those lost in the fire.
Shellie's suggestion about posting the death record is a very good one. The fact that the daughter and not the wife is listed as identifying his body does not necessarily mean anything of great import as far as the relationship of husband and wife is concerned---especially if he is identified as "maritus Evae" or with other words which convey the same information. There could be a plethora of reasons why the daughter is listed as the informant.
Hi Mary,
Someone here might be able to help you, but you have not provided much info. Without knowing more details about the information you already have, it's hard to make any suggestions.

Can you share images of any records that you have, including the death record you mention where the daughter identified the body? Maybe someone will recognize some clues.

This may or may not be helpful, but I've found women listed on church records by their MOTHER'S maiden name. I've seen it several times in records from at least 5 villages, including my ancestral village in western Poland AND my ancestral village in eastern Poland. I started a discussion about it here: http://forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?p=3925

In your exploration of your village records, have you made a list of every birth in the house number associated with your family? If your village is small enough, and you have the time, making a list of all births, deaths, marriages in your village can provide some extremely helpful clues. When I finally did this, I discovered that my family made a complete change in surname around the mid 1800's ! WOW! Now I have a much bigger family tree, but a HUGE MYSTERY to solve.

Just decided to write a note in case someone had an idea. For years, I've been trying to find my gr-gr-grandmother's birth, marriage or death record. How do I know she is my great-grandmother? I have found birth/baptismal record of my gr-grandfather in Kcynia RC Parish Records as well as his siblings with her as their mother. Have checked Kcynia as well as most surrounding parishes in LDS films for her birth, marriage, or death record; also, the Poznan Project site for a marriage. Her name was Ewa Zientara, presumably married to Michal Dolinski, lived in Zurawia, village near Kcynia from 1820 to at least 1840's. What is stange is that when my gr-gr-grandfather died in early 1850's, daughter Marianna, not wife Ewa, is listed as identifying body. Know it's a long shot but maybe somebody can see something I may be missing. Thanks.
