There are some helpful polish databases on line. What are their names and places?
Records from 1862 are kept in the Archiwum Panstwowe.
Hello, Gilberto:
Thank you for your kind reply, as well! The records I am seeking are for my paternal great grandparents - but they are over 100 years old (1862). The parish priest unfortunately was no help. I located a registry entry on an LDS film for a marriage. Great grandfather married again 6 years later (1868) - he was listed as a widower, and the ages match up. I'm thinking that the first wife may have had child(ren), but I can't find anything on her death, or the possible child(ren).

To whom should I write, since the parish was of no help? Many thanks again for the help!

Thank you for that information. Have you had any success with emailing a USC and getting your results? How about payment?

Yes, I was lucky and even got a scanned copy of the record I was searching for. However, you must have in mind that USCs hold only records less than 100 years old and, in order to apply, one must prove to be an immediate member of the family. Some USCs follow this rule strictly. Also, some do not accept requests by email; you have to write them a letter by regular mail. As to payment I have asked for a polish friend who lives there, and refund him through a Paypal account. Bank fees should cost more than the records you need.
A link for all USC in Poland you see here (click on the word Urzedy):

Good luck!

Would someone be good enough to provide me with a Polish translation that I could include in my letter to a local registry office in Poland? I'm keeping the letter short and sweet (asking for only two things), using Polish phrases from the PGSA website. I want to add a postscript that I'm enclosing a self-addressed stamped envelope, plus an International Reply Coupon (IRC) from the US Postal Service - for their convenience in responding to me.

I haven't seen this phrase anywhere. Many thanks for the help. BTW, I am a female, in case that makes a difference in the wording.

"Clarusia"

Clarusia, you mean only that sentence with postscriptum ?

Załączam Państwu koperte z moim adresem, gotową do przysłania mi odpowiedzi, łącznie z miedzynarodową winietą IRC od poczty US, ktora jest jak znaczek. Serdecznie dziękuję,
X. (signature)

The above text is neutral, male and female alike.

Best,
Hello:

Would someone be good enough to provide me with a Polish translation that I could include in my letter to a local registry office in Poland? I'm keeping the letter short and sweet (asking for only two things), using Polish phrases from the PGSA website. I want to add a postscript that I'm enclosing a self-addressed stamped envelope, plus an International Reply Coupon (IRC) from the US Postal Service - for their convenience in responding to me.

I haven't seen this phrase anywhere. Many thanks for the help. BTW, I am a female, in case that makes a difference in the wording.
