Hello,
This village was once part of the former Spis County Slovakia and a smaller subset of villages known as Polish Spisz and Zamagurie Region. I have done personal and professional research in this village and have a private collection of records.

I can confirm the births listed.

Please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely

I have hit a stone wall in learning about my paternal lineage. I hope someone will be able to give me assistance in confirming the data that I do have but, also helping me to discover other data.

My father was Jacob (Jack) Soltis, Born 17 Feb 1898, Connelsville, Fayette, Pa., Died 23 Oct, 1993, Makocada. Ia.

His father was Jacob Soltis, Born 07 June 1862, Felso Laps, Szepes, Hungary(see 1869 Hungarian Census and his Petition of Naturalization), Married Elizabeth Krissk in 1884, Wyzne Lapse, Galicia,Austria (per 1910,1920 US Census), Arrived with wife in New York in 1887 aboard the "Elbe", Died 06 Apr 1935, Glen Flora, Rusk, Wi.,

His father was Josef Soltis, Born abt 1820, Felso Laps, Szepes, Hungary(see 1869 Hungarian Census, House # 1, Married Anna Drone.

I believe his father was Piotr Soltis, Born abt 1800, Lapzizie, Szepes Hungary, Married Rosa Griglyok, Born abt 1810 in Felso laps, Szepes, Hungary (possibly second wife due to to birth date versus first child of Piotr,(see 1869 Hungarian Census, House #140).

Early last year, I had come across a Link (which I have lost)which showed a distribution of the surname variants listed centering around either Presov or Bardjov, Slovakia (Hungary). I have a premise that sometime during the seventeenth or eighteenth centuries, Slovaks migrated from these areas to Southern Poland. However, I do not know how to confirm this migration. My grandfather always listed himself as Slovak (see his Petition of Naturalization).

I have pretty much exhausted the sources in the USA and the 1869 Hungarian Census (the online 1869 Slovakian Census is missing considerable data contained in 1869 Hungarian Census). What would help if I could find documentations of Birth, Marriage and Death for my ancestors. The Village of
Wyzne Lapse, whose Roman Catholic Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, is of the diocese of Nowy Sacz, Stare, of Nowy Targ. Beside the church, where would the records be kept?
