Usually there is no need to use polish letters as typing polish words with english-letters-only is readable for polish speaking people and for internet search engines like polish version of Google or Bing. There are online available services that help typing polish diacritic letters. Doing it this way is easy going but may be painful when typing long text. Typing diacritic character directly on international keyboard is just pressing two buttons and switching from ENG to PL keyboard and vice versa is easy too.

How to enable polish keyboard:
Windows 8
Go to main screen (tiles view) by pressing windows button. Enter "c" then search bar will appear, continue typing "control" and then enter Control Panel setting. When in Control Panel, click on "Add language" setting next to the globe and clock icons, then again "Add a language" and choose Polish (programmers). If you want language bar then do not escape, just click "Advanced settings" on the left and after opening new options tick "Use the desktop language bar if available" and save.
Windows Vista/7
Start>>Control Panel>>Change Display Language or Change keyboard and other input methods. On the "Keyboard and languages" tab click on "Change Keyboards" then "Add.." Polish (programmers). You can set a "Language bar" on the next tab, on the right after "General"
Windows XP
Start>>Control Panel>>Date, Time, Language and Regional options>>Add Other Languages. On the "Languages" tab click Details...>>Add.. then choose Polish (programmers) and then OK. By reentering option "Details.." on "Languages" tab, you can manage Language Bar.
Linux
Check Keyboard settings.

Keyboard shortcuts for polish diacritics:
ą - Right Alt+a
ć - Right Alt+c
ę - Right Alt+e
ł - Right Alt+l
ń - Right Alt+n
ó - Right Alt+o
ś - Right Alt+s
ż - Right Alt+z
ź - Right Alt+x

You can easily change between two or more keyboard languages by pressing Left Alt + Shift (fast switching). You can change keyboard language and other options by clicking on language bar but if the language bar annoys you, it can be disabled (preferable) with no harm on keyboard funcionality.
Remember saving documents with diacritic letters (in editor like Notepad) in UTF encoding format (not ANSI).
