Judy,

On a record I translated yesterday, the second marriage listed the bride with her first husband's name (widow of), providing indirectly her birth surname - daughter of (parents first and last). I do not know if it's a written rule, but on all widow's marriage records here the status of widow was reported.

My grandmother's mother Marianna Mamak remarried sometime between 1902 and 1910. Would her second marriage record list her surname as Mamak (her first husband's surname) or Fronczak (her birth surname)? She lived in Zbludza (malopolska) after her remarriage, i believe, to a man with surname Lukasik. Thank you...judy
