I am still seeking answers to questions concerning various parishes in the area of Poland that was Prussia in 1850-1918.

The actual village is supposed to be near Marienburg 1850s. In the county of Stuhm (Braunswalde) or nearby. I have been told the general area is called Malbork today (was Marienburg).

The area of Braunswalde is now known as Gosciszewo, Poland I have been told many times.

I have not been able to locate any Gruns in that area. I did see an Anna Grun died and buried in Konigsdorf which is located nearby according to the maps that I have.

Any Grun connection would be helpful. Father of Francis Michael born 1857 was Joannes. Mother was Anna Zeilinski (according to baptismal records of children

Thank you very much for seeking more answers.
This entry was made by Denis Landman of Berlin. He is a distant relative of my grandmother Emma Cecilia Bruch which we found through the Pozen Project (Bless those workers).
He came to Florida in August of 2012 to meet and visit us.
I was excited when I received your message and when I saw the entry. My heart sank when I saw the actual information.
I have been seeking a good source of information for many, many years.
Thanks to you, I now have more than ever to assist in my seemingly endless search.
Joannes Grun married an Anna Zeilinski and had a son Frances Michael in 1857.

Charles,

I found something related to Franz Michael born in 1857.

First, a very good portal
http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Portal:Stuhm

On the very top, you have a line with various entries, click on "Databanken"

Then click on the left side "GedBas-DB", a search page open. I put Grun, and got a huge list name Grün, many pages, the letter "F" starts on the 6th, line:
Franz Michael GRÜN * 1857 +

Best,
Hi Charles,

Below some geographic information about place and Civil Vital Records Registry.
Best,
Elzbieta

==
http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_I/392
Left side, in the middle, Bruszwald (Ketrzynski), niem. Braunswalde, wies, pow Sztumski, stolica powiatu Malbork, ob. Bruswałd
Polish name circa 1880-1900 Bruszwald (Ketrzynski), German name Braunswalde, village in powiat (municipality) Sztum, capital city of the municipality is in Malbork, see Bruswald

http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_I/388
Righ side, in the middle, Bruswałd, niem. Braunswalde, wies, pow Sztumski, gmina i urzad stanu cywilnego Koniecwałd, parafia Sztumska, etc.
Polish name circa 1880-1900 Bruswałd, German name Braunswalde, village in powiat (municipality) Sztum, community and Civil Vital Record Registry in Koniecwałd, parish Sztum, etc.

NOTE: The above gives an important information about Vital Records, archived in Koniecwałd (from 1874 to 1910)
Koniecwałd (German Conradswalde or Konradswalde)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koniecwa%C5%82d
Actually Polish National Archives have online records for Koniecwałd, here:
http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/search?q=Koniecwa%C5%82d%20XSKANro%3At&order=

NOTE2: Justed looked up National Archives, the first set for 1874, it is in German
http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/9/561/0/-/1/skan/full/5uswryJu0ApzYVcOF6zUbw
I do not speak German, but it is printed, and looks like a birth record of 5 October 1874 from Braunswalde, parents Martin and Elisabeth Zielinski, baby Johan Michael.

http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_XII/51
Righ side, in the middle, Sztum, niem. Stuhm, u Duesburga Stumo, 1333 Stuhma, 1395 Stumi, u Dlugosza Sztuhm, miasto powiatowe w Prusach Zachodnich, w dawnej Pomezanii, otoczone dwoma jeziorami, na zachodzie Zajezierskim (Hintersee) i Barlewickim na wschod.
Polish name circa 1880-1900 Sztum, German Stuhm, place referenced in Duesburg book as Stumo, 1333 Stuhma, 1395 Stumi, and in Dlugosz book Sztuhm, main city of powiat (municipality) in West Prussia, in old Pomezania region, surrounded by two lakes, on the West side Zajezierskie (Hintersee), on the East side Barlewickie

http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_V/943
Righ side, in the middle, Malbork al. Malborg, niem. Marienburg ( dok. Castrum S. Marias, Margenborg, Maryngburgh, Merginburg, Marienborch, Mergenburg, Marienburgk, Mergenborch, Mariasburgum), miasto powiatowe w Prusach Zachodnich, w obwodzie regencji gdanskiej, etc.
Polish name circa 1880-1900 Malbork, alternate Malborg, German name Marienburg (according to some old documentation the list of other variants of the name is given between brackets), main city of powiat (municipality) in West Prussia, in district of the regency of Gdansk.

Today name Gościszewo, (German Braunswalde)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go%C5%9Bciszewo
Charles,

OstPrussia means East Prussia in German and Prussia Orientalis means East Prussia in Latin so both documents refer to the same place.

I am seeking the origins of the Green (Grun) name in Braunswalde (now Gosciszewo).
I think it is in the Stuhm Kreis but am not sure.
Joannes Grun married an Anna Zeilinski and had a son Frances Michael in 1857.
Frances Michael was my grandfather and said on one document that he came from OstPrussia and another document says Prussia Orientalis. Near Marienburg from family stories.
Any help would be appreciated about where to find records.
