Last night I feel that I solved my Buczynksi family puzzle as to where they came from.

For Buczynski I had Lida, Radom, Vilno and Dementy. I knew that Lida was in Belarus, and Vilno was sort of NW of it in Lithuania, but I couldn't figure what Radom had to do with them, because Radom was down in Poland (current times). While going over many old maps, a place called Radun (not Radom) sort of WNW of Lida, jumped out at me. Long ago they were all connected. Vilno, Lida and Radun. I am thinking Demety (Demetz, Dementy) was probably a small area around Radun, maybe a village or parish.

Thanks again to Henryk, Dave, Gilberto and Aga who's tips got me there. And the search goes on!

Is Belarus friendly to visitors? Does anyone know anything about getting records from them---should I just go about it the same way I did for Lithuania?

I am so excited! Trishsa : )

You might try checking the website of the Federation of East European Family History Societies (www.feefhs.org). If you scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click on Lithuania it will take you to links for that country and perhaps one or more may be helpful in directing your research. Anyway, it may be useful and interesting to check out the links on the FEEFHS site.

The Todorowski/Tudorowski's came from Wilno, Trocki, Meidanj in what is now Lithuania. Can use help finding the town, or village, of Meidamj.

John, Casimier, Anna, Rosalia, Joseph and possibly Stanislaw Todorowski started coming to Newark, New Jersey, USA around 1902. Their father was Piotr and mother was Marcianna Natkiewicz. Piotr may have raised horses. They were Roman Catholic.

How would I find information in Lithuania? Would there be a central location to contact, or would I have to contact local churches? Are there old maps somewhere where I could look for the town or Meidamj?

Also looking for Joseph Buczynski in Radom, Lido, Wilno, Demetz or Demety. This is still Poland. Father was Joannes, mother was Francisca Natajczow or Nasajczow. Joseph married Anna Todorowski in Newark, New Jersey, USA in 1915.

Any help would be really appreciated.
