Wow, I didn't know it there were references since 1472!
Where did you get this informations?

We are already collecting the births and death records, but it takes so long! So, I decided to ask also in this forum if there were other informations!

I know already the metryki system and found many of them! So many scans! I'm a student at university and in the free time genealogy is one of my favourite hobbies! I believe we all have to discover our origins and to preserve them, so that our grandchildren one day will know what's behind their families and continue the tradition. History is very important.

Family Name Origin:
UJAZDOWSKI, according to Polish etymological sources [works of Prof. K. Rymut, Prof. Z. Kaleta, and others], this very old Polish family name is toponymic in origin, and derives from the place named Ujazdow, Ujazdowo, etc. The family name UJAZDOWSKI is noted in Poland from the year 1472.

Family History:
If your Gpa was born in Włocłąwek, plase ask your Polish cousins to ask the local archive for his birth record (pełny odpis or scan) - thus, you will find the place of birth of his parents, and you will have the origin of your GGpa with the exact local parish with parish church/civil books. Follow that path as deep as you can, the full and rich family story is behind you to uncover.

I know many Ujazdowski who live in Poland, I go often in Poland, and actually isn't a very common surname as you said!
Of course I know there is the Ujazdowski Castle in Warszawa and there is also a politician named Kazimierz Ujazdowski...

I don't live in the USA, but I don't live neither in Poland, but I go often there because I have many relatives, my roots! Ja mówię po polsku!

My grandfather was born and lived in Włocławek and my cousins now live there. But no one knows the origins! Because as I said my great-grandpa died young!

I was just wondering what's the origins of the surname Ujazdowski? Probably it comes from the town of Ujazd...

Searching in many database I found people who emigrated in the USA (Ellis Island), jews in the Lodz ghetto, and many others but the fact is that googling on the web and forums I never found no one interested in the history of this surname, so I'm doing it now! Maybe there is someone here that is interested!

Do you know, have you ever heard of the Ujazdowski family?
Is there a database with the births, deaths and marriages of Warszawa?

PS. I'm a Pan, and Garbacz is just a nickname!

With your so cordial query I've used the surname location in the present-day Poland, and please note the Ujazdowski is a popular name here, in the capital Warsaw we can find hundred of Ujazdowski's, in the town of Włocławek fortunately we can find at least the following adults:

Hi everyone! I'm looking for the family name Ujazdowski, some of my relatives comes from Włocławek others from Warszawa and surroundings, but searching on internet I don't find anything interesting and the fact is that my great-grandfather died very young and most of the history of the family disappeared... can you help me?
