My great grandfather was " John" Krupski from russia , more than likely poland. I have had no luck on tracing him anywhere.
I have read many places however that Krup was for " Barley ". I told my husband this and he glanced at me sideways and said " Yeah, no wonder your family likes to drink "...which is true actually....
I got a laugh out of it, had to share.

                                      Great site here!

Looking for help with Krupinski & Krupski.

People have said that Krupinski translates to something to do with groats or place of groats, but I also have wondered if there could be any connection to "Pinsk" or somehow "someone from Pinsk".

I have no idea about Krupski.

Any thoughts or feedback is appreciated. Please take a look at my site for more details on my search and related findings.

I have been researching my family for a few years now with some limited sucess. My grandparents Piotr Krupinski and Jadwiga (nee Krupska) came from the area (now Belarus) between Minsk and Vilno. Their villages were very small - Smorkowo and Rakszyce. (map available at my site: http://www.krupinsky.com)

There appears to have been a concentration of Krupinski's in the Suwalki area, but I can't make any connections to it and am not sure how mine ended up in this location.

Regards,
Michael
