Hi Stefan - Thank you very much for your help in providing some information about my father - Boleslaw Zygmunt Dabek. It is really good to be pointed in the right direction and I know that you have given me some extra info from that which I have already. His second wife was Joyce and they did live in the Denham Bucks/ Uxbridge area of England. I did know that he had died in 2002 through my other Family Tree research and the place, but not where he is buried. As I do not live too far away, I think that it is time that I make that journey to see his grave. The contact address and phone number for the Polish Records Section at RAF Northolt will also be of great use. I do know that he was a great linguist speaking at least five different languages so I can imagine that he would have been able to help with the Resettlement Corps. So - thank you very much indeed for your help.

Hi "Sitruckebad"

I have some further information that I'm sure will interest you ..

Your father served during the War as an Aircraft Mechanic in RAF 307 (Polish)
Squadron, the well known "City of Lwów " night fighter Squadron.

http:/www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._307_Polish_Night_Fighter_Squadron[/url]

------

You can obtain his War Service Record by contacting Mrs Barbara Krol or
Margaret Goddard at:
Ministry of Defense
Polish Records Section, RAF Northolt,
West End Rd.,
Ruislip, Middlesex, UK
HA4 6NG
Telephone: 0044(0)208 833 8603.
Email: polishasstdisoff@northolt.raf.mod.uk

Your fathers' RAF Service Record number is: 782739

-----

This Record would typically include such information as his mothers'
maiden name, his pre-War street address in Poland, and details regarding
his activities and whereabouts during his service years. He likely also served
a two year stint in the Polish Resettlement Corps from 1946-48.

en wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Resettlement_Corps

The last time I checked, the Service Record is provided by the MOD at
no cost to the surviving spouse, but is £35 for other next of kin.

-----

According to the brief PAF records I can access, your father passed away
on August 2, 2002, at the age of 89, in Uxbridge, Buckinghamshire, UK,
in greater London, and is buried at a cemetery at nearby Denham Village.
(pop. 7,000)

The only Roman Catholic Church in the immediate area seems to be the
Church of the Most Holy Name, on Old Mill Rd.

-----

Electoral rolls for 2002 for Uxbridge list a Joyce E. Dabek. I strongly suspect
that this lady was your fathers' second wife, or possibly a daughter. It shouldn't
be too difficult to find her (former?) street address in Uxbridge

.. Very best of luck with your search.
My father - Boleslaw Zygmunt Dabek born in Krakow on 18th November 1913 - served in the Polish Air Force during the Second World War mainly in the UK. He was married briefly, to my English mother, but I never knew him. He did remarry and settled in Greater London. I know very little about him except that his father's name was Antonin and his mother's name was Anna, who was born in Silesia. I would like to trace any possible living relatives and any past ancestors.
