PS I also thought maybe a copy of the indult might be in the "attachment" records (e.g., dowody) that are kept in separate files locally, but I do not have access to those either. I've found records there for other individuals, and those have been useful too.

                                      Czesc Everyone --

Can anyone tell me whether and how to obtain a copy of an indult issued by a catholic bishop? In my case, I'm looking for an indult issued by the Bishop of Plock in 1901. I have the record number of the indult from the marriage record. My guess is that indult was necessary because the the couple in question were closely related, but I have yet to determine the exact connection, because the birth records available to me do not go back far enough. I'm hoping the indult might shed some light on the topic. The bride and her mother-in-law share the same maiden name. I have determined that the bride and her mother-in-law do not share the same parents. Based on all the records I have so far (going back to 1824), I think that the bride's great-grandfather and the groom's grandfather may be brothers.

I am aware that researchers in other countries (e.g., Mexico?) have had success obtaining copies of indults, and found useful and enlightening information in them. I realize that variations in recording practices and public access to those indult records vary from country to country, and even between dioceses. Just thought it was worth a try to find out!

Bonus points to anyone who can direct me to an online site with such records, so I can research from home (doubtful), -OR- to anyone willing and able to look up the record for me in Poland (pretty please!).

Dziekuje!
