Hi Gilberto! I wanted to let you know I located wawryniec chmielewski and Eleanora Chmielewska in records from the US Holocaust memorial museum. ,they were in the prison at radom. Both were released after varying times spent there. It appears they might have been underground. If this is the correct info and the correct connection I can see why info is scarce. Have you seen any of the Info from Radom? Very interesting. I also submitted a form to get additional info if available. Are u familiar with inema surname? Thanks. Carol

How did you locate the maiden name? I knew she was married twice to my grandfather Frank baczek, and when he passed to a Kossak. Did she marry chmielewski etc. I did not receive an email that you posted and that's why I did not respond. What was his first name, and her parents name and his parents names? How long does it take to get an answer from the archive, do they speak English and have you dealt with To run? Thanks you may have broken thru my brick wall. Carol,

Her maiden appears on the ship manifest, column "name of the nearest relative in the country of origin". She declared; sister Jozefa Jakubczak. No parents' names mentioned.

Her husband's first name was Wawrzyniec, rendered as Lawrence, in English. He arrived on April 17, 1906, from Hamburg, ship Deutschland. He was going to his brother Wojciech (Adalbert). No parents' names mentioned.

Yes, I have dealt with Torun many times and they have been very friendly. And the Wloclawek branch (your case) as well. You can write in English, but the answer will be in the official language.

Since the birth date you have is based only on the ship manifest information, consider you search to cover the range 1878-1880.

As to payment, you will be asked to make an initial deposit/transfer, usually 25 zlotys, not refundable. That should cover one hour of search, plus a scanned copy of the record, which you can ask them to send to your email address. Their answer usually takes about one month. How to make money transfers to Poland has already been discussed in this forum, but I can't find the link (it was posted by Dave).
Carol,

The place is not Brezie; actually the correc spelling is Brzezie.
Florentyna (b. 1879) and her children Franciszek (b. 1902) and Helena (b.1902).
Their birht places are listed as Brzezie (for Florentyna) and Jaranówek (for her children).
Therefore, among the 19 Brzezie in current day Poland, yours is the one in the map attached.
The parish for this Brzezie and also Jaranówek is Wieniec.
BMD records are not online yet (promised to June 2015) but you can request copies to the Archives.
Check the link below and click on the polish word Więcej to see additional information and the address of the Archive.
http://baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.php?l=pl&miejscowosc=wieniec&gmina=&wojewodztwo_id=69&wyznanie_id=0&rodzajaktu_id=0&search=szukaj

Florentyna was a Jakubczak, married to a Wawrzyniec Chmielewski.
His place is liste as Pikut. I think it is Pikutkowo, less than 6 miles SE of Jaranówek (same county, map attached).

Carol,

There are 19 places in contemporary Poland named Brzezie and at least seven of them are located in what was the Russian Partition (Congress Kingdom) in 1907 and would have been named as Brzezie, Russia. Without supplemental information it would be not quite like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack, but sort of like looking for a 16d nail in the haystack. Another analogy would be like looking for a place named "Columbus, USA" without at least knowing the state where the Columbus you want to find is located.

Sorry I can't give you any more helpful information.
