I sent a request to the archives several months ago to search for my Grandfather, Jan Bielec, birth record.
I asked them to look in several locations: Ulanica, Dynow, and Brzozow and gave them the date range of 1892-1896
and provided the names of his parents: Marcin Bielec and Tekla Gasecka.

I just received the attached letter from them today. I think they are saying they found Jan Bielec's birth record in Dynow, and that I need to place a bank transfer before they will send me the digital scan of the record, but I'm not sure.

Could someone please help me understand this letter? A summary is all I need with emphasis on what I need to do next to get the record. I especially want to know the amount of money I need to send - is it 500 PLN or 5 PLN? The comma (5,00 PL) is throwing me off!

Thank you for any help you can offer!!

Congrats, it's almost done. Do not worry for archive's fees (small and under control), worry about bank's fees (unlimited).

Here summary and boring stuff.

Best,
IMPORTANT: in all your correspondence with Przemysl Archives you shall use references on the top of your jpg, “Nasz znak” and the dates.

Nasz znak: OIU.6344.224.2014
Pismo z dnia: - seems to be the date they received your initial letter, 03.01.2015 – 3 January 2015
Data: is the date of their reply to your letter (“Pismo z dnia:”), 27.03.2015 – 27 March 2015

Summary:

National Archives in Przemysl inform you that:
* The Roman-Catholic parish for villages Dynow and Ulanica was located in Dynow
* The Roman Catholic parish for Brzozow was in Brzozow
* The National Archives in Przemysl do not have records from Brzozow
* The National Archives in Przemysl do have records from Dynow, including the book of birth 1892-1896.

As a result of browsing in the above assets of Dynow 1892-1896, we found, in 1893, a record concerning the birth of Jan Bielec, son of Marcin and Tekla.
In order to obtain the scan, you shall make a bank wire-transfer to our bank account [NOTE:BANK], of an amount of 5 PLN (in many countries numeric separator is comma, so 5,00 PLN is like 5.00 PLN in countries where numeric separator is dot).
The legal basis for the above fees is based on decision N 1/2008 dated 7 February 2008.
Once we receive the paiment, we will send you the requested scan.

NOTE:BANK:
In European Union we use mandatory SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) wire-tranfers, where both IBAN and SWIFT-BIC numbers are necessary.

SEPA:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_Euro_Payments_Area
SWIFT: Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication
BIC: Business Identifier Codes
IBAN: International Bank Account Number
As far as I understand it, IBAN is a unique number of an account, while SWIFT-BIC designates an office branch of the corresponding bank.

Przemysl’s National Archives IBAN number have 28 digits
43 1010 1528 0063 0522 3100 0000
And its SWIFT-BIC is:
NBPLPLPW
(which corresponds to a branch office of a bank NBP in Rzeszow)

IMPORTANT: when you make a wire-transfer, you must add reference of what you are paying for in bank form online, short but significant, then once transaction done, save a proof with references of all paiments (as PDF or whatever your bank is alowing you to do). Then post an email (I guess) to Przemysl, saying “it’s paid, please send me a scan”.
When they write 5,00 PLN you should read it as 5.00 PLN.
Just think of it as a different style of decimal point.
Hoping someone else can answer the remainder of your question....
