Hi Deidre,

Jacek is right, "your" Sławno is the one near Kiszkowo (click here for a map: http://bit.ly/bwslAv ) because according the Słownik Geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego from 19th century only this Kiszkowo in Poznan area (Wielkopolska) was a parish seat back then.

I have checked in Polish State Archives databases that records from this roman-catholic parish in Sławno from part of 1800s (including the year 1847) are available in State Archives in Poznań: http://www.poznan.ap.gov.pl , e-mail: archiwum@poznan.ap.gov.pl .

I would recommend you to contact them by e-mail and ask for doing research for you. To learn more about the process and what you can expect read the article: "Remote" research in Polish State Archives - practical hints. http://polishorigins.com/document/archives_practical_hints

Sławno - there are 8 Sławno's in Poland, two near Poznań.
One near Gniezno, on the road to Kiszkowo, second near Czarnków north of Poznań. I think thet only the first one is a parish so that's where you should look.

According to the Poznan Project,my g-g- grandparents were married in a Catholic parish in Slawno,in 1847.
How do I find out the name of the correct parish or town they were from ?
Is there somewhere I can write to and get the results in English ?
I'd appreciate any help you can offer me.
Thank you very much.
