thanks to both of you, the august referenced in the note , is the grandson of the lady in the coffin, and the note was sent to the daughter stefania, who passed it on her daughter anna, the other grandchild of the lady in the coffin.
I will also try the translator, the family spoke both polish and Russian and also some german, I was using an old polish dictionary and the words did not line up. now I know why.

you have been a great help.

thank you , thank you, thank you.

I would not say it's such easy, but it permits to perceive what it is about.

Here is my deciphering added to Philip's:

дорогая роди[?] // Polish word is Rodzina, Family; or Rodzenstwo - siblings

это мамы карточка похороны я её вам высылам только посмотрить и прошу показать Августу и пришлите ему карточку мне казать я только одну имею

==

And automatic translate:

Dear Family or Siblings,

This card mother's funeral I was sending it to you just look and ask to show August and send him a card I thought I only have one

==

SUMMARY: the sender is sharing a picture from his/her mother's funeral, asking it be shown to August, because the sender has only one copy

Best,
Elzbieta

True, it's just easy the method.
Obviously, is not a full translation.
But in my opinion, if it's about single words, phrases, simple texts, it's a good way to start!
my name is lawrence lancucki and I have attached a photo of a funeral in juniszcze or horyn Belarus.
I have also attached the note from the back of the picture.
Can anyone tell me what language I am dealing with , and an appropriate source for a translation.

thank you ,
larry

Hi Larry,

it's the language that has been always used in Belarus!! Russian or Belarusian languages! Both use the cyrillic script!
But considering the time, it's probably Russian.

Unfortunately I'm not able to translate it, but if you want some good translation you have to post in this section:

http://polishorigins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=335

On the other hand if you want a quick rough translation you can try using this:

http://www.stevemorse.org/russian/cyrprintcurs.html?style=names&casing=lower&font=cursive&type=bold&leftposition=5&rightposition=5&maxLines=3&imagesPerLine=15&russian=%u0417%u0439%u043E%20%20

Then copy & past in google translator and you'll somehow understand something quickly!

I've already begun:

это мамы карточка похороны я её вам...
This card mother's funeral I did to you...

It's easy and fun!
