Hi Debs,
OK, I think I get it now. I went back and re-read your thread from a few months ago about Marianne Szeliga. So, the ship manifest you just posted here is absolutely her. But the church record is not her, in all likelihood, because the father is shown as Anton and you expected Michael. Right?
So the thing to do is to keep combing through those church records for the parish in what is today Frenstat, Czech Republic and which was, at the time of Marianne's birth, Frankstadt.
Let me know if you find any possibilities and I will try to look at the names with you!

Hi again Debs!
I am not sure if I am understanding you correctly. It seems as though you want to know where Maria came from. Her ship manifest says Frankstadt, Austria. And then you have her actual birth record, which confirms that; Frankstadt and Frenstat being two languages way of naming the same place, right? And if you can get this birth record translated, you will know a lot. The birth record even gives the family's house number! In the columns for both the mother and father, I think I see "Frankstadt" again, so it is telling you either that the parents were born or were married in Frankstadt, leading you to further records. Was there something else you were hoping to find here?

HI SOPHIA... I have looked at this doc again and realise now what the answer to my questions are. It is the same Frankstadt, Austria and Landmann.

What I was hoping for was a lead to an area of Austria at the time 'of the Birth Cert'... But these documents are not going to give that to me.

I appreciate your time taken helping me Sophia. And wanted to let you know that there now is no need to spend more time on the Shipping document... Thank you once again, very very much.. and a Big Hug for you!

Hi again,

Sorry, but the birth document is using a mixture of handwriting that I can read, along with some old style German handwriting, which I cannot read. For explanation go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%BCtterlin and scroll down to "overview of the letters." Take a look there at the capital letter "S" and you will see it looks rather like the leading letter in the first column of your document, right next to the 24/24. So what I think you are seeing here is one style of handwriting at the top of that column, saying September 1850 in a very easy-to-read script, and in the column itself the word "September" is repeated, but in Suetterlin script. So for Marianne, her "time of birth and baptism" is telling you she was both born and baptized on the 24th of September, 1850. It likely goes on to give a time of day of her birth; I can't read it. I can deduce that the second column, name of the baptized child, is Maria Szeliga, but again the handwriting!! Next are columns, and this is easy: she is catholic, she is female, and she is legitimate. You are then getting info on her father (Anton?) and mother, as well as the names and occupations of her godparents. So sorry I cannot do more with this. Try to find someone who reads Suetterlin or old German handwriting.

if one or both are German ?? Given the German occupancy at the time, I can only guess this...

the first written entry on the page, referring to Szeliga on the Baptism record, I am very keen to learn of the translation. If anyone can assist me?

The 2nd document is the shipping list, at the top is the Kubala family and underneath is my Marianne Szeliga. I am interested in the 'Im Staate, and the 'Bisheriga Stand, Beruf''. I understand Frankstadt only.
Any assistance gratefully appreciated. Thanking you kindly.
