Upon looking at the documents you sent I have discovered that as I enlarge them they become unreadable. Would it be possible to send them in their full size?

I know that you specifically asked about your grandfather but I presume that you would also like to find records of your grandmother and her ancestors. Attached are the birth record of your grandmother and the marriage record of her parents. On BASIA the birth records of two sisters of your grandmother, Agnes & Lucia, are indexed. The image from the Poznan Project appears to be the record of the marriage of your grandmother's paternal grandparents. Sroda is not far from Bnin so its is quite likely that the record indexed is the correct marriage. Keep in mind that since they were Catholic marriages took place in the parish where the bride lived not where the groom resided.

A bit of background on vital records from the German Partition (Prov. of Posen)...Prior to 1874 parishes (both Catholic & Protestant) submitted copies of parish registers which became civil vital records. For Catholic parishes the records were kept in Latin. From 1874 civil records were registered at free-standing registry offices and those were in German. (The birth record of your grandmother and the marriage record of her parents are such records.) However, Catholic parishes continued to keep ecclesiastical records in Latin. Those records are usually housed in the diocesan archives. The Proznan Project indicates that to obtain copies of those records one should contact the archive. However, there is another option. Records of the parishes where the records of your grandmother's family are found have been filmed by the LDS and those films may be rented for a nominal price. If you need to look for multiple records renting the films is much more economical than requesting copies from archives. The downside to all this is that you often can't find those records online so it is necessary to do your research in a bit more old fashioned and less convenient way.

This information was taken from the Poznan Project. I saw the bride was born in Poznan (then the province) and then decided to check if there was a marriage for those couples.

The information displays the number of the marriage record and year and parish
Then mentions groom's and bride' parents names and ages.
The same for the other couple.
Ojciec = father
Matka = mother
lat or lata = years old

I could't find his birth record in 1878, neither in Lubstow or Slesin. Would have to check all years after his parents' marriage.

My great-grandfather's name was Stanislaw Pelczynski. He was born in 1878 and came to the USA in 1894. Lesnictwo, Krol. is where he was born according to the marriage record.

What name and surname are you trying to find? Year?

I would like to view the record. Maybe it is Leśnictwo. Krol. stands for Królestwa Polskiego (Kingdom of Poland).
