Well, sure, any one of us can go back to a post that we made and delete what we wrote. There may be a good reason for it; perhaps you already found the information that you wanted. Perhaps you wish you had written it differently. However, as someone who was sincerely trying to help you, it feels rather abrupt to have the conversation negated in this way. I had spent some time seeing whether I could find some info for you on Nik Odzereiko. Now, I will go do something else with my time.

Best of luck to you in your search.
Where/when was your grandfather born, I'd start there. Also, on ship record, he was alone, so his wife would've had a separate record if she came over also. My last name was Rzeszotarski, and when my great grandfather came over in 1899, it became Zeszotarski, and eventually became Starkey by my grandfather. When I pulled his obituary from the newspaper from the 40's, it had lots of info that my aunt verified, including that he had a sister. That piece led me to the sisters marriage and the town they were from.

                                      Hello,
very possible that the name was changed, or he picked a more "American" name. My great grandfather was named Jagaczewski, and when he started working in Wheeling WV in the 1910's, he was told they didn't like hiring immigrants, so he took on Snyder as a last name. Check the record you have and see if it identifies who he was meeting.
Hi,
There are lots of possibilities. He could have changed his name, yes. Sometimes names were shortened, sometimes spelled differently to make them easier for English-speaking people to pronounce, sometimes the name was even translated if it made sense to do so. However, there is also the possibility that you are not finding him in census records because his name is spelled incorrectly, either by the census taker or by whoever indexed the records. Another possibility is that he returned to Belarus for some time.
Would you like to post his name, and whatever else you know about him that might distinguish him from others of similar name, to see if someone here can help you locate a record of him?
Best of luck in your search,
