Aga, If I knew the father's name of the famous Jozef Fryzlewicz I could check to see if his father is in my tree already. My great grandfather Barlomiej had 12 children, many of them immigrated but some didn't. I have the list of Bartlomiej's brothers and uncles etc all going back. Any way it was just a curiosity.

Aga, thank you. I appreciate the information. The earliest Fryzlewicz ancestor I know of was Adalbert Fryzlewicz born 1743. When did they start using surnames in Poland? I have heard of the actor Jozef Fryzlewicz born 1932 in Nowy Targ, and his nephew Marek Fryzlewicz who was mayor. I wonder if they are related to me?

Fryzlewicz or Fryźlewicz (I found this surname in such two variations) is from fryz, “Friesian horse,” or fryza, “ruffled collar,”

I wonder what the surname Fryzlewicz means. It seems all the family originated in Nowy Targ ! The name seems to be rare also.
