Hi Margaret,

Bielanka belonged to Raba (also called Rabka) Wyżna parish, so the records (if only survived) should be found there. I also checked phone book for Kawulas in Bielanka and there are five persons listed

                                      Hi Shellie,

Thanks for responding. I believe we are speaking about Bielanka in Nowy Targ. I only have anecdotal evidence of that! My Dad visited Poland many years ago. He used to say his family was from Zakopane and he met a violin player named Vincent Kawula at their hotel. He never followed up on that lead or connection. My uncle's notes have Bielanka listed as the Kawula home village. I will put my uncle's notes in a different format and send to you. Just may be a while with the holidays!

Thanks!
Hi Margaret,
Are you asking if anyone has any information about the village? There are at least 3:
Bielanka, Lower Silesian Voivodeship (south-west Poland)
Bielanka, Gorlice County in Lesser Poland Voivodeship (south Poland)
Bielanka, Nowy Targ County in Lesser Poland Voivodeship (south Poland)

Based on the conversation you and I are having on the Ancestry.com message board about Jan Kulawiak, I think that your Bielanka village is the one in Nowy Targ. Am I correct? Shellie

My uncle's handwritten tree has Bielanka as the village for the Kawula family. Jan Kawula born 1878 in Bielanka, died 1959 in Chicago. His parents were Andrzej Kawula born 1848 in Bielanka and Katarzyna Rubis born 1854 in Bielanka. They had 9 children including Jan between 1878 and 1898. Andrzej had 7 siblings: Antoni, Mateusz, Rozalia, Regina, Antonina, Antoni, Piotr. Their parents were Jan Kawula and Agnieszka Lysik. He has Jan's father as Piotr Kawula and Zofia Czyszcon. Agnieszka's parents are listed as Andrzej Lysik and Katarzyna Tylczak.

Would love to have any additional information that you may have.

Thank you! Happy Holidays
