Wikipedia: English translation:
Kochawina (Ukrainian: Кохавине) - a former town in Ukraine , currently the southern district of Hnizdyczów
A wonderful painting and the Kochawiń parish.
At the beginning of the 17th century, an image of Mary was found in the forest near Kochawy, since 1680 worshiped as miraculous. In 1755, the first church was established here, and in 1780 a separate parish was separated under the care of the Carmelites . In the years 1868-1894, a new church building was erected, and in 1902 a shelter for orphans, in which the service was performed by the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Holy Virgin Mary . During the First World War , the front line passed near Kochawina. Tsarist , Ukrainian, Cossack and Soviet troops were stationed here. A hospital operated in the shelter. In 1931, the management of the parish passed into the hands of the Jesuits .
World War II and the post-war period
Large losses among the local population, both Ukrainian and Polish caused the Second World War . After the war, Kochavina was within the borders of the USSR . The church was profaned , later linen was stored in the building. A boarding school for mentally handicapped children was placed in the monastery buildings. The miraculous painting was moved to Stara Wieś , then to Kraków , and is now located in Gliwice . In 1991 the temple was restored to its former character, creating the parish of Saint. Gerard . It is under the care of Redemptorists from the Greek Catholic church of Stryj who have their center of novitiate here .
No, the list is not there, but it gives you contact information for the village in Germany where the camp was located - they may know who has the records. The site also mentions the camp records may be held by the United Nations in New York City, USA. You can contact the UN with inquiries regarding records.

Another option is to contact the Red Cross International. they may know where the records are kept.

Wishing you the very best on your search,
We are looking for the family of Andrzej Wolak, who emigrated from Poland via Germany in 1949. He is said to have traveled with his wife and child via the Auswanderugslager / displaced persons camp in Bockhorn, Lower Saxony. Are the IDP files still available?

Have to Andreas family the following data from Catholic baptism papers:

Andrzej Wolak, b. Nov 8, 1902 in Kochavina, Galicia, Poland
Son of Michael Wolak, blacksmith in Strychauce near Kochavina and Anna Vogel.
Grandson of Eduard Wolak and Elisabeth Schneider

Andrzejmarried Anna Kaszel (born Dec. 6, 1900) on Aug. 3, 1926 in Stryj, Poland. Anna's parents were Joseph Kaszel and Maria Fedyszym? - Farmers from the district of Rudki.

Family research on the internet has nothing to it. Where is the best way to find old Polish data? I'm grateful for any help as my mother is 85 and I want to take her on tour to Poland. Anna Kasel is her mother. How could you help me arrange this travel.
