Dear Roseanne, I have sent you the translation via private message. Please confirm when you receive it. I did not want to make it public on polishorigins.com in case you want to keep it private.

What is interesting, when talking about Mom, the author uses ‘they’ and the third-person plural form of verbs. In those days, children addressed parents that way to show respect. This grammatical form is a bit similar to the German “Sie” which also goes with a plural verb form.
If anything is not clear, please let me know.

Best regards,

Hi, I can translate the first letter over the weekend if you need a better translation, but the second one will take some time - it's difficult to read because of the handwriting and dialectal expressions. Best wishes, Slawomir

Yes, Slawomir. I received one translation a while back, but was told that a second look might be warranted because of the "old Polish". And another one, which is attached here, if you don't mind and have the time. Dziękuję, Roseanne

Recently I was visiting with a cousin in a distant state, and he graciously let me photograph a letter he was saving. Neither of us knows Polish, except for a few words and phrases. We think it is from our grandmother's sister, Stefania, and it appears to be from 1919.

I'm hoping that someone might translate the two pages.
