There is never too late to sign up to Facebook or start learning Polish

You might try writing to someone in English, the young generation learn English at school although usually this is a rather passive knowledge.

This surname seems to be rare enough so perhaps contacting random people bearing this name might put you on the right track.

I wonder whether other PO members find Facebook and similar networks effective in family search.

You may find it interesting to know that in the year 2000, there were 406 men with the name Waksmundzki and 412 women with the name Waksmundzka, concentrated in the Tatra region as you can see on these maps of surname distribution:
See: http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/waksmundzki.html

In the bottom right corner of the page you can see the top localities with the highest number of people with a given surname.

There is also just a handful of people named Waksmund: http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/waksmund.html

Waksmański and Waksmańska may be related surnames:
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/waksma%25C5%2584ski.html
and
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/waksma%25C5%2584ska.html

There are quite a lot of Waksmundzkis registered on Facebook and a Polish social network Nasza Klasa, www.nk.pl
I am wondering if Wasmund, Waksmundzki, Waksmundski are same village of Waksmund Valley.
