Oh, don't mind the questions, I'm pretty excited about this as well, kind of cool to make a connection. The images were photos I took of the LDS microfiche I looked through a few years back. I don't recall the roll numbers, but I would start to search the familysearch.org site. It's changed a lot since I used it to find the roll numbers so I'm not sure how to do so now. I searched for Kobyle then. I'll see if I have time and do so. With two young kids at home don't always get a lot of time to go searching but tend to do so after they get to bed. Its one of the few things I get to do for myself to keep me sane.

If you want to exchange emails, I can send you the files I have. I'll send a PM.

Have a good night.

THere were 5 or 6 from Kobyle that day.

My grandfather Frank went back and forth to the US 3x's. The first was Sept. 1, 1906 and that's where he mentions that he is going to stay with brother-in-law Jan Wojewoda. The second time I found was Jan 27, 1909 and thenMarch 28, 1912. Where did you get the photo of the document that you attached which is a baptismal record and the one you called godparents? I could not print it all out and would like to make a copy.
Did you get that from the LDS off of a microfiche? If so what roll number and what archives did it come from- the office of the town of Kobyle or the church of Sw. Mikolaja Cudotworcy in that town?
You said you also have a wedding picture which I would love to see. I am going to try to piece all this together and find out the relationship. You said your greatgrandfather was Jan Wojewoda and who was your greatgrandmother?
I know I'm asking alot of questions but I am so excited about this find.

I believe this is the what the record says, can anyone help out and let me know if I'm wrong? I did my best guess at the last names.

Not sure exactly how Theresa or Marianna Wojewoda are related to my family, though I'm sure they are somehow, need to look into that. Also, I have a photo from a marrage of a Wojewoda I believe. There are many people in it, and don't know who they are, my mother says the oldest (which one she is we don't know) is suppose to be the grandparents of I think one my great grand parents, which I guess means it could be a Nalepka wedding as well. I can send that to you if you are interested. Not sure if any are related, but if you are wojewoda, then the "grand mother" may possibly be in your line as well.

Hope this helps.
I just started looking through the church records and saw this one, it shows I believe a Goc as a godparent to one of my great grandmothers (Catherine Nalepka) sisters. I'll look more to see if there is any birth records for any Gocs and any specific to Frank. There are also a few marriage and death records in my photos too, so I'll check them.

Lisa---Thank you for your reply. I didn't know if you would ever see my post about Jan Wojewoda. Its amazing that your great grandfather was the man my grandfather stayed with in Detroit. You said you remember seeing the name Franciszek (Frank) Goc. Not sure how they were related but either Frank Goc or his travelling companion Piotr Tasz listed "Jan" as his brother-in-law. Are either related to Jan Wojewoda as far as your records indicate? If Jan was Frank's brother-in-law that would mean that Jan's wife was Frank's sister (or Jan's wife was Piotr Tasz's sister). What was Jan's wife's maiden name(your great grandmother).
I would like to find info on Frank who was probably born in Kobyle in 1874. Frank married a Malgorzata Latarska but don't know if marriage took place in Kobyle.
My father was born in Poland in 1907 and his birthplace was listed as Mogilnica. I would love to find my father Jan Goc's birth information.
You said you had photos and that you got info from LDS. If you can give me anymore help as to Goc or Kobyle or Mogilnica it would be much appreciated.
Please keep in touch as it is exciting to find someone that in someway shared the same roots.

If you are looking for church records for Koyble you can find them through the LDS. I have a number of photos of them for the Wojewoda's and Nalepka and others. I believe they are birth records. I'm not sure if its records from Koyble or from Mogilnica that you are looking for? Don't recall if I have any of the marrage records.
Hi, my great grand father was Joseph Wojewoda from Koyble who lived in Detroit. Its been a while since I've looked into that side and will need to give my files another look, but I do remember seeing Goc as someone living with Jan. I'm not sure how Jan was related. Just wanted to post quickly, since this is kind of exciting finding someone else from Koyble.
I have all my father (Jan Goc) naturalization and citizenship papers. They say he was born in Mogilnica Poland in April 1907. His name spelling on some of his papers is Jan Gac which was later changed to Gatz in the US. I would like to find his birth certificate if I could and the town of Mogilnica.

On my grandfather Frank Goc who was born around 1874 I will try the two links you sent. So am I understand from your reply. Kobyle was located in the province of malopolskie, powiat bochenski, gmina Nowy Wisnicz. I will try to look it up on a map. You have given me alot of information and I appreciate it and will start researching alittle more.

Again I appreciate all your help. Thank You! Dziekuje! I did go to polish grammar school for 8years but my polish is very rusty.

The Kobyle Francis came from is located in province malopolskie, powiat bochenski, gmina Nowy Wisnicz (the name of the gmina is written in the first page of the 1912 manifest). On the second page, it is again mentioned as his birth place. Poland State Archives has no records for the year he was born (ab. 1874), only
from 1904-1907. It is unlike that there are still records kept in the parish, but if you want to give it a try the address for the parish, the address can be found here (there is even an email address) http://www.diecezja.tarnow.pl/index.php/schematyzm/k/375-kobyle.html
Also, thank you Gilberto I will look at the link you sent for archiwum.plock for both Latarski and Goc surnames. Am keeping my fingers crossed. Any other hints or help is much appreciated.

I would just like to mention that you may want to make a note that When Franc Goc traveled with Piotr Tasz it is mentioned that Jan Wojedoda is listed as "Brother In Law" to one of them, and as a Friend to the second listed person! I'm going to assume that Franc Goc is listed before Piotr is listed on the manifest, indicating that Jan W. is his Brother-In-Law.
I know that sometimes when we focus on the priority person, this important relationship can slip by us! It is also very possible that Jan Wojedoda stayed in Detroit, Mich. and there is still family in that region.
Good Luck,
Joan,
Names are a bit misspelled. Malgarsata = Mal~gorzata.
"Nowgernitzky" I think it is Nowe Czerwinskie, because after the place name it reads "gub(ernia) Plock".
And there are Latarski and Latarska records here: http://www.archiwum.plock.com/acts_en.php?open=go
There are some Goc, too.

Looking for information about my grandfather Franc(Franciszek) Goc or Gac who came from Kobyle Galicia Austria. According to passenger manifest he Immigrated to the US in 1906 with Piotr Tasz and went to stay with Jan Wojewoda on Chaman Ave in Detroit Michigan. He came back and forth from Kobyle to Detroit 3times 1906, 1909, and 1912 and finally in 1913. He sent for his family. Wife Malgarsata Latarska and 4 children Antony, Stanislaw, Jan (my father) and Stanislawa and they came to live in Maspeth, Queens, NY.
Malgarsata (Margaret, Mary)'s passenger manifest said their last residence was Nowergican (Nowerginitzhy Glib Ploch) or something that looked like that town name.
Can you point me in the right direction to look for info on my grandfather Francizek Goc from Kobyle or his wife Malgarsata Latarska from a town called Nowergican?
Some of my father Jan's paper mention the town of Mogilnica or Mogielnica.
Would love to know where to write to get grandfather and grandmothers birth cert or at least marriage certificate and especially my father Jan Goc's birth certificate.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Joan
