Hi Sophia
Francizek was asked about what happened on February 4, 1927? What happened when she left you?
He couldn't tell the judge where she went.
That was the last time he and the four children saw her.

Anastazia was not present at the divorce in 1930

Hi Alexho,

If you have the detailed records from the divorce in 1930 from the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illlinois, it should say whether she was asking to have her maiden name re-instated. That would tell you whether to search for Anastazja Ziemba or Anastazja Ciesielka in the U.S. records after 1930. Also, whether she had anglicized her name by that point. Anastasia? Anna?

Best regards,
Pracował tam w rzeźni i młodo zmarł na wyrostek robaczkowy. Miał żonę i małego synka, którzy zostali po jego śmierci. Wyjechał w tym czasie co Twój dziadek Aleksander Ciesielski. Hi Alex & Cynthia,

I believe that the Find A Grave memorial is for your Michał. The civil death records list his parents as Joseph & Anna and his wife as Frances. This matches the Burial Record from Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City. I know that the civil death record states that Holy Cross was in Hammond, Illinois but that can be easily explained. Calumet City was once kinown as Sobieski, Illinois and then as West Hammond, Illinois. The Cook County Marriage Index states that Michael married Frances Golden in 1921. The PGSA indexed his obituary and a copy can be obtained from the society for a fee. Here are links to records which almost certainly are for your Michael.

Death Notice of Michał from Dziennik Chicagoski https://pgsa.org/people-death/157813/?surname=ciesielski&first_name=&type=wild-card&results-start=20

There is a 1910 Federal Census which could be your Michael. Although that record places him living at 8429 S. Buffalo in South Chicago and working in the steel mill (United States Steel South Works) whereas at the time of his death he was living on Sawyer Avenue there are several clues which indicate that it may be worthwhile exploring the possibility that the Census is for your Michael. Many men who lived in that area worked in the stock yards, which would square with what you were told about his occupation being a butcher. In my opinion, the first clue is that he was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, which was the cemetery of choice for Poles from South Chicago. Someone who lived on Sawyer Avenue and had no connection to South Chicago would more likely have been buried in Resurrection Cemetery. The second clue is personal to me. I grew up in South Chicago and remember a Golden Family which belonged to St. Michael parish. One member of that family was one or two grades ahead of me in elementary school. The maiden name of his wife was Golden and as far as I remember there was only one extended family with that surname in South Chicago. Anyway, I believe it could be something worthwhile checking. Link to the Census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9RJ5-L9M?i=37&cc=1727033&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AMKCC-V13

During the time I was in high school during the early 1960s I had a summer job working at Holy Cross Cemetery. Michael’s burial record states that he was first buried in a grave in Section H and two years later was transferred to a lot in St. John Section. The graves in Section H were “term graves” which had a expiration date (25 years after the final burial there). Sometimes families transferred bodies from a term grave to a “perpetual care” grave. All the lots in St. John Section are perpetual care lots. Attached is a map of Holy Cross. Section H is along the fence line on the western edge of the cemetery and St. John Section is near the main cemetery entrance across from the cemetery office.
I hope that you find this information useful.
Wishing you continued success,
Hello Alexho,

The passenger list you found is your Michael. I am attaching the full document of 2 pages. He is line 8. Note his father is listed as Josef and his destination is Chicago Illinois to his brother in law. Other details on the passenger list line up.

Policzi written on the passenger list is a shortened form of Police Mostowe That was written by the scribe as he heard it. Also, the passenger list confirms his father Josef was residing in Kolo county - same county for
Police Mostowe and Dobrow.

I will post his death information later.

Best,
I´m looking for information about Michal Ciesielski.
He was baptized in Dobrów
Great Poland in the year 1889
According to an email from my Polish family, he migrated to the United States. According to her information, he got married and they became one child. He died in a young age.
From Find a Grave : https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/145082898/michael-ciesielski ( I'm not sure if it's the same person)
From Ellis Island : Ciesielski, Michal1913 Policzi, Russia Rotterdam(It could be him, but I'm not sure) Where is Policzi? My Michal is from Police Mostowe, Praksedow or Janow
I have tried if I could find something about his marriage but without success.
Hello Alexander,

In reading the thread, it appears that one of your objectives is to find descendants of Frank Ziemba and Anastazia Ciesielska.

I notice that there is a picture posted for Anastasia’s husband, Franciszek “Frank” Ziemba on Find A Grave. Have you been in contact with the poster of that photograph? She has Ziemba in her name.

I also looked at the Find A Grave records Anastazia and Frank’s daughter “Estella Frances Ziemba Madura,” death in 1989, and her son “Harry James Madura,” death in 1996. If you haven’t already done so, look at the death certificates under the informant names. It appears that the informants - daughter for Estella and a brother for Harry, are the grandchildren of Frank and Anastazia Ziemba and it may be worthwhile to search for them. I note that these death certificates were posted by the same Find A Grave member that added the photo to Frank’s Find A Grave memorial. (I am being careful not to name potential living people in an online forum.)

In your post of Mar 12, 2012, you say “I hope that xxx Leracz will come with some new information.” Are you (or were you) in contact with the son of Edmund T. Leracy (Leracz) and Helen Ziemba Leracy (Leracz)?

Good luck,
