1. It clarifies some confusion that has existed in history books concerning the founding of Parisville, Michigan which is arguably the first Polish community in the United States.  The confusion comes from the intertwined history of two families (Ciechanowski and Smielewski) which are sometimes used in a misleading manner.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2. It presents an interesting genealogy puzzle, which I was fortunate to solve.  I go about telling how I solved the puzzle.&lt;br /&gt;

It certainly seemed very strange that a Smielewski should be the parent of a Ciechanowski. I had never previously heard of the name Smielewski, and thus was quite confused.
