Youtube videos of dwellings at Klobka museum are similar to old photos of grandmother's homestead (attached) near Rypin-- even a duck at the doorway ! Thank you, very informative.

Hi Marianna,

Rypin lies within the ancient ethnographic region of Ziemia Dobrzyńska, which lies on the opposite bank of the Wisła (Vistula) River from the region of Kujawy. Both ethnographic regions share much in common in linguistic dialect, traditional formal garb, music, cuisine, and style of building. They both spoke main stream Polish of the Kujawian dialect variation of the larger Great Poland dialect (dialekt wielkopolski). Cf. Attached map of the major Polish dialect groups. Regional differences have lessened during the 20th Century due to migration within Poland, the rise of mass media, etc. Here is a link to the outdoor museum in Kłóbka https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=klobka+skansen&fir=0famm9EaEQC2dM%252CdfyV4e0rPoAytM%252C_%253BdHwCREs8ooyeiM%252Co3Zq68Tf2_bXtM%252C_%253BLvapIJs0CXIUkM%252CGdXeR1rT22RHJM%252C_%253Bpz6ypXEPv_vabM%252CfAaDmuyAEW0DcM%252C_%253B7nxrNMXXx8mGVM%252C7G_qJMoJ5jQrdM%252C_%253B4XvP2Qg2cjFVpM%252CFYSbwnQFc16IHM%252C_%253BiR4sjLRBfLZsZM%252C7G_qJMoJ5jQrdM%252C_%253BgMuycE3HB2N5HM%252Cb0eoleHBVf5y7M%252C_%253BVmRXLnFWSSQ4OM%252C98m7KDDuy2S2aM%252C_%253B88C6FQFQ2BuRnM%252C5rUbhGvYQqTVTM%252C_&usg=AI4_-kTRinToH6rlXyjONEarjKyQyk9FWg&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiNtLvz14P1AhVDZc0KHcPnDZwQ420oAHoECGUQQg&biw=1252&bih=564&dpr=1.09
The outdoor museums are similar to Greenfield Village near Detroit in that buildings from various villages have been moved to the location of the outdoor museum (skansen).

Gostynin lies within ziemia gostynińska which is bordered on the west by Kujawy. The dialect spoken there was the Mazovian dialect (dialekt mazowiecki). Here is a link to info about the dialect https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dialekt_mazowiecki Here is a link to some bare bones info about ziemia gostynińska https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziemia_gostyni%C5%84ska Here is a link to the outdoor museum in Sierpc https://mwmskansen.pl/

I hope this gives you some leads where you can begin your own research into the lives of your ancestors.

Happy New Year!
