My grandmother is Joana Szcerba born in Piekiclnik on November 25 1895. Her mothers name is Maria Swiztek and her father is Jan Sczerba. She had a few brothers and sisters, some stayed in Poland while others went to Chicago, AZ and CA.
My grandmother Joana went to Chicago to live with her sister Caroline. Joanna arrived in Chicago around 1913 and worked for theFred Harvey Hotels in AZ and in CA. In 1917 , I know that she married Konstanty Zimnicki in Chicago on September 1, 1917. They had twin daughters, Helen and Jennie. My grandmother and her daughter Jennie used to write letters to relatives in Poland. These relatives are Jan Swietek, U. Kapicov in Piekielnik No. 225. I still heve some pre addressed envelopes with the complete address. They also wrote to Anna Orawiec and Weronika Szcepaniak in the same area of Poland .
My grandmother was known as Jennie Zimnicki and lived on Harding Avenue in Chicago. I hope that this sounds familiar to someone out there and that you can help me with my family search.
