The idea of building a chapel in Wróblówce was born in the early 80's in the USA. Hailing from Wróblówki Highlanders wanted to financially support the construction of which started in the spring of 1982. Impressive was the pace of work and commitment Wróblowian and country and America. The construction of the church in the rough, covering it lasted a year. The foundation stone was given to you on 29 June 1983, which made Bishop Stanislaw Smolenski. The chapel dedicated to St. John the Baptist. 5 August 1984 dedication of the church made Archbishop of Cracow, Fr. Cardinal Franciszek Macharski. When the chapel is the parish house where the events are held, and during the holidays take place stays there oazowe. Support a chapel since the beginning of the parish priests of the Czarny Dunajec, which includes Wróblówka. Masses are now celebrated on Wednesdays and Fridays at. 16.00, and on Sundays in the chair. 10.30.

I feel a very close connection to this information. I need a 60 year bridge from 1790s to the 1850s when Katarzyna Gubala and Jan Szaflarska were born. They married in Wroblowka in the 1870's. How do I find that?
I am thrilled to see Samiczak. Someone somewhere has to know about Ludwick Samiczak born abt 1870. He died young. I heard he was killed abt 1897. Were there newspapers that might have reported it?

I'm just putting together a database of information on Wroblowka emigrants who entered the United States through Ellis Island, based on information I found in the New York Passenger Arrival Lists (Ellis Island), 1892-1924, the Bremen Passenger Departure Lists, 1904-1914, and at www.FamySearch.org. You may find some familiar names.

Her father's age was 29 ys, her mother's age was 25 ys, number of children of this mother: 1, born alive and now living 1. The family's residence was at 1269, Augusta St., Chicago, Ward 17, at the time. Andrew/Andrzej Samiczak could have been the witness in the Bryjak-Kwak marriage.

In one of your earlier posts you said that Maria (Mary, Maryanna) Szaflarska, b. abt 1876, married Ludwick Samiczak abt 1890, that their children were Anna, b. 1 Nov 1892, and Antonina, b. 13 Aug 1896, that Ludwick Samiczak died, possibly killed, before 1899, that Maria Szaflarska-Samiczak married then Michal Gal abt. 1899, and that their children were Aniela, b. 15 Jun 1900, Rosalia, b. 29 May 1902, and Stanley, b. 15 Nov 1907. If all this took place in Wroblowka, their records should be in the Czarny Dunajec parish, and, if you are lucky, also Ludwik Samiczak's death record with his exact date and cause of death. I don't have the address of the Czarny Dunajec parish, but I'm sure one of our PolishOrigins members has it and can give it to you.

Three Samiczak men from Wroblowka immigrated to the US: Franz (Franciszek) Samiczak, 20, in 1902, headed to Taylor, PA to join his brother-in-law Jozef Krozel [a Joe Krozel, age 19, born in PA abt. 1911, lived as a boarder with an Ogrodny family in Chicago when the 1930 Census was taken*]; Franz (Franciszek) Samiczak's father Jozef Samiczak in 1909, headed to Taylor, PA to join his son Franciszek Samiczak, and Jan Samiczak, 14, followed on 14 May 1908 to join his father Jozef Samiczak in Taylor, PA.

I also see that some of the Samiczak resp. Gal children immigrated to the US on 22 Dec 1920 to join "Mr. Gal" in Mammoth, Westmoreland, PA: Antonina Samiczak, her sisters Aniela and Rozalia Gal, and a child, Anina Samiczak. Their last residence abroad was with their step-sister (can't make out name) in Wroblowka. It may have been Anna Samiczak, the first born daughter.

You probably have part of this information already, but I hope some of what I found helps you in your further research.

You're welcome! No Gubalas from Wroblowka in the Ellis Island database, but three Samiczak emigrants (the fourth one I'm not sure about, could be a misspelled "Samiczak"also).

I looked up Samiczak and Gubala in Jozef Bubak's books on the history of surnames in the district of Nowy Targ. According to Jozef Bubak's research , the surname SAMICZAK appeared for the first time in 1786 and 1787 in the Books of Births in Wroblowka resp. Dzial; SAMICAK in 1791, 1792, and 1796 in the Books of Births in Odrowaz, Wroblowka, and Dzial. → Cf. Samica

SAMICKA (f) appeared for the first time as early as 1645 in the Book of Births in Bialy Dunajec; SAMICA in 1794 and 1803 in the Book of Births in Wroblowka.

The spellings SAMCZAK and SAMCAK appeared 1723, 1765, 1766, and 1789 in the Books of Births in Bialy Dunajec, Zakopane, Zab, and again in Zakopane.

The surname GUBALA seems to have been one of the most popular surnames in the district of Nowy Targ. With some of the information given in brackets we need the help of a Polish speaking member who can translate it into English:

Woyt 1620 in the Book of Births in Maruszyna; Walenti Gubala dictus Sroka ... tego Sroki ... Mikolaj Gubala dictus Michno ... ze wsi Ciche 1622 in LW (Ksiega sadu wojtowskiego lawnieczego miasta Nowego Targu, Archiwum Powiatowe w Nowym Targo**) in Nowy Targ; 1635 in the Book of Births in Maruszyna; Jan Gubala z Marusyny 1651, Jana Gubale (a sg.) 1652 in LW (Ksiega sadu wojtowskiego lawnieczego miasta Nowego Targu, Archiwum Powiatowe w Nowym Targo**) in Nowy Targ; 1661 and 1663 in the Book of Births in Zakopane resp. Maruszyna; 1786 in the Book of Births in Dlugopole and Zaluczne; Szaflarski al. Gubala 1787 in the Book of Births in Czarny Dunajec; Gubala 1788 in the Book of Births in Dzial and Podczerwone.
Gubala was also indexed in the "ksiazka meldunkowa" (registration book) in the villages Banska, Bialy Dunajec, Ciche, Krauszow, Maruszyna, Miedzyczerwienne, Male Ciche, and Odrowaz.
There's a note at the end of the paragraph (I transcribe): "Gubala, Gubaly gw. (≤ ap. gubac sie 'podkasywac sie', SW), tez cf. GUBA."

GUBA: Christopherus Guba 1668, 1670 mentioned in the Book of Births in Nowy Targ. (≤ ap. slow. guba 'wierzchnie odzienie z grubego sukna, gunia', moze (≤ slow. huba 'twarz').

Just by chance, when researching one of my Dlugopole ancestors this morning, I came across the name Samiczak in the church marriage record of one of my ancestors, Jozef Bryjak from Dlugopole. Jozef emigrated to the US in Feb 1911 and married Angeline Kwak from Wroblowka on August 04, 1914 at St. John Cantius Church, Chicago. According to the church marriage record, he was the son of Andrzej (Andrew) Bryjak and Anna Kowalkowska, Angeline's parents were Jan Kwak and Rozalia Kosierwinski. Marriage witnesses were Andrzej Samiczak and Aniela Zajac.
