My Kannenber family goes back to circa 1600. The only reference I can find is for someone I cannot connect to the rest of my Kannenberg Tree.

Germany, Prussia, Pomerania, Catholic and Lutheran Church Records, 1544-1966
Marriage to Christian Friedrich Westphal 3 October 1811
Kannenberg, Saatzig, Pomerania, Prussia, Germany
Birth 1781

Her Father is listed ad Friedrich Kannenberg

I am referring to what was Kannenberg, Saatzig, Pomerania, Prussia, Germany (now Poland). Very close to the Polish German border of today.

Looks like I may have to hire someone to do some more research

Could be both. I found a place in Poland called Kannenberg.
Kannenberg (Polish Kania) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Chociwel, within Stargard County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.
Look at the attached picture. Then you can see where the people with the surname Kannenberg live.
