This area holds a particular fascination for me, which includes not only my ancestors' villages but other members of mtDNA Haplogroup W1, in this depression and across the southern Polish plain north of the Carpathians. This interest encompasses Slavic ethnogenesis and tracing of migrations
through genetics (20,000 years ago to the present).

At this site: http://www.unco.edu/cerca/documents/RMNP%20Brunswig%20Tatra%20Research%20Programs.pdf
Developing Cultural Resource Research Programs between Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP),
the University of Northern Colorado, and the Tatra National Parks of Poland and Slovakia

Non-technical, it offers an overview of the archealogy, history, and cultures of the area, plus some really great photographs.
