Thanks for that info. What tools did you use to look at specific manifests? Spent a couple of hours using this tool (https://heritage.statueofliberty.org/passenger-result) but it is limited and didn't have any success using a variety for first name / last name filters.

The image for my surname (Pryzbylkowski) sure looks a lot closer than how it was stored in their database (Prazhjelkowski) so I'm pretty sure that's my great grandfather since there is mention of the town Shenandoah where both him and his son worked in the coalmines.

So, what's the best way for me to review the other manifests of ships that sailed from Antwerp? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

There are times when you don't want to bother with search tools that make you search by the passenger's name, you just want to go right to a specific date or a specific ship. Here is the tool I used:

https://stevemorse.org/ellis/boatfs.html

It is mostly intuitive but there are techniques that I use with it which would take me a bit of typing to explain, but why don't you go ahead and see if you can make it work for you. One thing I will tell you is that you should ignore the boxes that ask you for the microfilm series, roll and volume. Go right to the boxes for choosing the timeframe. For the search I did for you, I also added the name of the port (Antwerp). What happens next depends very much on whether you have a subscription to Ancestry (which I do not) or simply rely on FamilySearch (which is what I use). The odd thing is that yesterday it all went smoothly, but when I went to use it this morning it claimed that FamilySearch no longer has manifests from 1892 to 1927 which makes utterly no sense. So if you have Ancestry, go ahead and try this. If you use FamilySearch, then there is another step added to the process which I will explain if you need it.

When all goes well, you get to the actual images of the manifests. Move about among those images with the little controls at the bottom of the screen that allow you to advance by one frame, or two frames at a time, etc. Again I think it will all make sense when you see it.

Good luck,
That is fantastic information. I just started this journey yesterday and I do know that my great grandfather had 3 children (Frank,Adolph, and Helen) so your information lines up with this. Thank you very much!

Just curious - where did you see that Chojnacki and Szklanecki are relatives?

Joseph Przybylkowski was travelling to his uncle Mateusz (?) Chojnacki, who was also brother-in-law of Kazimierz Szklanecki listed above Joseph. However, I don't know if they got there since both entries were crossed out. And at this point there is no 100% proof that this is the correct list, although the destination and age seem to match.

As for the parish of Gradzanowo - you're right, the surnames Przybyłkowski, Szklanecki and Chojnacki appear in this parish, while in the village of Rostowa I see only the last of the mentioned ones, but the passenger list contains information about the last place of residence, not the place of birth, so I was referring more generally to the area where these three surnames appear.

Hi Monika, Barb and Jprzybyl,
Monika is correct, when the entries are crossed out on a ship manifest it is an indication that the person did not sail. For anyone who is following along, this was the ship Kensington, arriving on May 31, 1898. The link to the image is here:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C9T4-YBG9?i=872&cc=1368704
Since this ship sailed from Antwerp, I wondered whether Jozef and Kazimierz simply caught a later ship, so I looked at the manifests for ships sailing from Antwerp. From the end of May to the end of July of 1898, the Kensington, the Noordland, the Friesland and the Southwark each made the journey to New York twice, and the Westernland once. I quickly scanned those manifests but did not find Jozef on any of them. Maybe I missed him, or maybe he sailed even later than that.
Best of luck in your search,
Hello,
I will just add records from Geneteka forum and some from FamilySearch for your consideration:

1892 Marriage of Antonina Witkowski & Antoni Swiderski https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-1D9W-TP?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AKMC5-4QS&action=view
1900 census - Anthony & Annie, children John, Rosie, Walter https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M347-NFN
1903 Marriage of Antonina Swiderski & Joseph Przybylkowski https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-189M-C7?i=71&cc=1589502&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AKMCR-V8P
1910 census - Joseph & Annie, children John, Rose, Walter; Mary, Frank, Adolph https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MGZ1-GGJ
1920 census - Joseph & Annie; John, Walter, Mary, Frank, Adam, Helen (+ some confusion with surnames) https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MXSV-4RR
1930 census - Joseph & Anna; Frank, Adolph, Helen https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XHH9-PNR

If the passenger record posted on Geneteka is the right one, the surnames Przybyłkowski (as well as Chojnacki and Szklanecki - Joseph's relatives) appears in Rostowa, parish Gradzanowo, mazowieckie.

                                      Hi,
It would be nice if others also looked at this link from Genetyka. None of the attached documents convince me. Can you answer my questions? I would like to know what documents you have. It appears that your great-grandmother's name was Antonina Witkowski. If they got to know each other first in the United States, then they did not necessarily come from the same area.

The only Joseph Przybylkowski I can find searching on geneteka.genealodzy.pl is a Jozef Przybylowski who was born in 1876 in the Brdow parish and I'm trying to determine if that's my great grandfather. I cannot find any record of his wife Antoinette.

I would like to visit Poland and visit the town that he lived in. I would greatly appreciate your help in finding him. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi,
Did your great-grandparents get married in Poland or the USA? Do you have any documents that confirm where your great grandfather's wife came from. Do you have the names of their parents? Could you share some documents with us?

Regards,
