Thank you so much, you have given me a lot to think about. Something tells me you are a teacher, as you refer to how different people "digest information". Interestingly one of our party is deaf and two others are dyslexic!

I remember reading somewhere that travelers exploring their homeland often carry cards to leave behind at gravesites and with people they might meet who would know of their family. This sounds a little bit like what you are referring to.
I am traveling to Poland in a month with extended family to explore our heritage. Polish Origins has created a wonderful experience for us.

I have done the genealogy and know it well, but most of our group has not seen the work I have done. I want the family to have something to refer to as we tour and explore our roots. Should I print a copy of our family tree? I want to help the family understand who we are looking for and to have simple guide to how it all relates. Has anyone anything like this?
.

Hi Marta,
This is a great idea, to print a copy of your family tree and bring it along on your tour. Let me add a few thoughts. You may want to bring a few copies of it. If you happen to encounter some relatives along your route, it would be useful for you to have an extra copy to show them (for which purpose you might want separate diagrams with only a section of the tree on each). You may even find that one of your distant cousins will take out a pen and start adding people in to the diagram. This happened to me once at a family reunion and it was very valuable information. You may find that they would like to keep a copy. Or you may not meet your relatives right away but instead find yourself talking to a neighbor or the soltys, so handing them a portion of your tree along with your contact info could make it easier for them to pass along your questions to the right family.
As for your family who are traveling with you, think about how they best digest information. Some people work very well with diagrams. Other people take in information differently and need a photo or a story to connect with. When you mention a name, you may need to add, "This was the family who owned the apple orchard that Grandpa always talked about helping out at harvest time" or something to that effect.
Hope this helps to spark some ideas,
