I am new to this forum but thought I would pass along some info I found on Familysearch.org
Under Ohio records, there is a selection for the Toledo Diocese, however, the records cover more than Toledo.
Warning they are not indexed so lots of scrolling and squinting but it can be helpful - I found records for Shelby Ohio in Richland County with this collection. Unfortunately, the records do not cover Lorain.
Access is free but you will have to create an account with Familysearch.otg

https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&countryId=43

There are also some Cuyahoga County birth records on www.fold3.com

To be honest now, i have found out already what is related to that address and i dont think it was the one anyone would be in in the time years im looking at, its just records that might reveal some more names or places of birth in Poland as i beleive Walenty and Zofia met and married there before moving to Poland. They had 13 kids in all, only 3 kids of the 13 went to America again in the 30's. No idea for why they did this, and information about them is sort or lost.

I would to somehow get hold of Walenty and Zofia's marriage records and two of the 2 of the missing three plus the Brother of Walenty who lived with them in the 1910 Census:

Walenty Zięba (Valentine Ziemba). Born 27/11/1885, Galicja, Poland and Zofia Mleczko (Sophie Mleczko). Born 12/05/1887 married in rougly 1907 in the US, very possibly the state of Ohio.

(The Brother of Walenty) Jan Zięba (John Ziemba). Born 1890 in Galicja, Poland. Lived in Lorain Ohio of 1910.

Stanisław Zięba. Born April 07 1912, Lorain, Ohio. (Known on US records as maybe Stanley Ziemba)
Anna Zięba. Born 1909 Lorain, Ohio. ( Either on records as Anna/Annie Ziemba)

Ive raided Goolge search and the Ancestry.com site for search under loads of variations but still i have hit a wall with what im after unless the cleveland Diocese finds what i was looking for from my request.

If the church is still open the record will be there and the cost is 10.00 to 20.00 dollars or whatever one wants to pay. If the church is closed and the record is at the Dioceses they charge per hour. The record I obtain was their marriage certificate and baptism records of my dad and uncles. I will do some research on Monday and see what I obtain. The record above is the person you are interested in finding more information and possibly marriage record.

The records i am interested in getting hold of got back as far as 1907 where i believe there should be a marriage cert. I found the 1910 census on Ancestry.co.uk where it said they had been married for 3 years already, so it is a rough estimation based on that census being accurate, sometimes i have found census's can be faulty.
I went to the Cleveland Diocese in person and they were not very helpful. When I finally spoke to someone in the lobby. (I rang a bell and waited for someone to appear) she did state they do not have the staff to search. If they did find the time it could take months. She informed me if the church was still open all records are at the church. If the church is closed then the documents would be at the Dioceses.

The records I obtained I went to the church and obtain them from the Priest. These records were from 1916, 1930-1940's. The process took about 2 week. Let me know if you would like me to contact the church or the diocese in person.

Can you tell what sort of Archives you found in the Cleveland Archives and how easily available they were? I sent a request after finding more info and finding a relative of those i was searching who was looking also. Unfortunatley the Diocese of Cleveland Archives gives no guarantee's on being able to search even or release any info for Genealogical purposes.....
The record in questions that first takes me to the fact that the first part of the family was in Lorain, Ohio for a while was a Akta Zgonu record for the sister of my Fiancee's Grandmother, she was born in Poland later on in 1927 however her older Sister of who i talk about was born on the 20th of August 1912 in Lorain, Ohio, USA. Her name was Maria maybe at birth Marianna Zięba. Her Parents were Walenty Zięba and Zofia Zięba(Maiden name unknown). They had 9 kids and apart from my Maria in not sure which others were also born in the USA before the they returned to Poland. It is also possible that one of the sons stayed behind when the returned or went during/after WW2 as there is pictures and and letter with address from a Jan Zięba with the address of Indiana Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio
Hi Bill and Chris

I live in Columbus, Ohio and have done a lot of research on my family in Cleveland. My grandparents came from poland in 1909 and resided in East Cleveland. The parish they attended was St. Casmir which was one of the largest Polish Catholic churches in Cleveland. The 2nd largest St. Stanislaus. St. Casmir's closed two years ago but St. Stanislaus is still open. St. Vitus still open, The Catholic dioceses has all the records from all the Catholic churches which closed. If you provide me with the English Translation of the names of your relatives you are searching I am planning to be in Cleveland this week to follow up on some leads for my family. Also the name of which Church your family possibly attended. When I am in the city I will stop and if they are open i will see if I can put in a request for the records you are searching.

Kris, I did some checking with your limited info and I did find some info. See my text file on both 1920 Louis Ziemba and 1930 Jacob Zieba. I did find Louis in a 1926-7 city directory on 17th st. So I did a search of the nearest Polish church and it was not far from his address. see my map. We still do not know if this is your family but it's a start. Good luck. Bill
I don't have a clue on the Church however i had access to a death certificate stating that one member of the family was born in Lorain, Ohio in 1912.....

The family in question was in Lorain, Ohio and moved back to Poland sometime after 1920 to buy land further in North, however they were from the South East of Poland originally.

The family surname was Zięba, sometimes in America changed to Ziemba, which does not help.

Chris, I am from Ohio and there was 13 Catholic churches in city of Lorain, Oh (Lorain is also a county-powiat). Many Catholic churches have closed in Ohio, I don't know if some were in Lorain Co. Can you tell me where your relative actually lived to help determine what church he was near to? I am posting a list of the churches that were located in Lorain. Dzieki Bill
Witaj Państwo,

I am new here and wonder if anyone here can help me with what to do to a research dilemma i have. Im trying to find out how i not living in the USA would access records to a Polish Church or Parish area in Lorain, OHIO? I sent an email to one of the main and oldest Churches there but there was no response unfortunately.

If anyone can help then please to let me know.

Regards
