Thank you all very much! I am still waiting for my uncle, Jan's g-son, to respond to my e-mail; hopefully he'll be able to give me some more info about Jan. Interestingly, no-one in my family ever spoke/speaks about him. I wonder why?

I read it as he is going to 52 Front St. Bay Way, Elizabethport N.J.. This is the Polish section of Elizabeth N.J.
when my grandmother came over in 1906 she went to the same area. I hope this helps

I read it Polana. There were four villages with that name in what was then Austria-Galicia. List of places attached.

Elizabeth, originally called "Elizabethtown" and part of the Elizabethtown Tract, was founded in 1665 by English settlers. The City of Elizabeth was created by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature, combining and replacing both Elizabeth Borough (which dated back to 1740) and Elizabeth Township.

Now I think that for the final destination it might say Elizabethport. Looking up Elizabethport online, it is now a neighborhood in Elizabeth, NJ - the oldest neighborhood in Elizabeth.

I'm not sure about this for the street - the first short word I can't make out, but then it looks like it could possibly say Way Front Str. 52 Elizabeth. There doesn't appear to be a town named Elizabethtown in NJ (the only Elizabethtowns I found were in PA, KY, NC, NY, IL). There is a town named Elizabeth in NJ. Do you know the village that Jan Domyslawski came from in Poland? I can't make that out. If Jozef came from the same village, that might help us look for him on a ship manifest.

I agree, Elizabeth boro. may be the abbreviation. Elizabeth Borough became Elizabethtown. The street is Bay Way and Fulton #52. The Bayway Polish Club, "The Polka Dance Capital of the East is only a few blocks away. I checked the maps and Bay Way and Fulton Sts are still there. (Lots of Hi-way construction took out many old steets.)

Check the 1921 city directory on line. I went through 10 pages but did not find him searching K names. Not able to search by st. names.

Any chance you can "encode" the same of the Street on the record (position 21)? I think the town's name is Elizabethtown, NJ. Would you agree?

This explanation might fit that series of numbers that is in the occupation column:

Number in the Occupation Column - Numerical sequences in the occupation column were often added during verification for naturalization purposes, usually after 1926. The first number is the naturalization number, the second is the application number or Certificate of Arrival number. An "x" between the two numbers indicates that no fee was required for the Certificate of Arrival. Indicates the naturalization process was initiated, although not necessarily completed. These numbers are often followed by the date of the verification.

As you said, brother-in-law Jozef's surname is hard to decipher. I will give it another look. It might start with Kac...

I believe I finally found my grand-grandfather's Ellis Island record. According to this record, Jan Domswski (Domyslawski), arrived in New York on Feb. 28, 1906, on board of a ship sailing from Bremen. He was 26. There are some adnotations made next to this entry, in 1939, but I do not know what the numbers stand for. Perhaps someone can help? I am posting the link to the manifest below: position 21. The record states that his destination in the US was the dwelling of his brother in law - Jozef ....cki. The handwriting is almost impossible to read. I am hoping to find someone, and perhaps there is someone on this forum, who can help me "encode" the record. I do not know Jan's story and would like to learn more about him. All I know is that he later returned to Poland, but I do not know why he left the US and when, and that his son, Mieczyslaw, born in 1906 in Philadelphia, PA, fought during War War II with the Polish "underground" formations against the Nazis.
