Hi Dave and Sophia,

The town of Samotschin went by several names. The town went by Samotschin, Samoczin, and Szamocin. I know this because my Pisarski family was originally from this town until they moved.

Family search has microfilm on the town. You have to go in person to view the records, but they did put a "search the index" (the magnifying glass) on there which is a big help.

Here is the link for the Roman Catholic church records from family search.
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/234470

Here is the link for the Evangelical church records from family search.
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?q.place=Samotschin%2C%20Kreis%20Chodziesen%2C%20Posen%2C%20Prussia

Regards,
Following up on this, Kartenmeister is directing us back to the spelling Samotschin. Now use that spelling here on Meyer's Gazetteer and you will find a great deal of info including closest churches (the "ecclesiastical" tab), map, etc.
Hi Dave,
I think you are right. One resource you can use is Kartenmeister. Click on this, then scroll way down the page to the entry screen for searching their database. In the box for "Polish City Name / Ortsname" enter Szamocin. You will get three results, all of which are actually the same town. Click on each one for additional info.
http://www.kartenmeister.com/preview/databaseuwe.asp
You can post here the images of these passenger lists, if you wish. Or provide a link to them.
Best regards,
