I'm sorry. That was me. I had a question about the villages named Orzechowka. When I found an answer, I didn't feel that the question had to do with your forum, so I deleted it. I have had that happen to me. I've gotten an e-mail that someone has answered my post, or that I have a private e-mail, and it's not there. I am sorry to have made you wonder.

Look for Julius record in nearby villages. Draw an imaginary circle around Uscianki covering 2 or 3 miles, then 5 miles, 10....hardly farther than 30.

I have found Paulina she was born in 1859, in Uscianki, her maiden name was Wyszynska. She married Stanislaw Kondratowicz in 1886 in Uscianki, Augustow, Augustowski, Podlaskie, Poland. She was a twin and had 7 other siblings. Her parents Jan Wysznski born 1817 and mother Anna Kuderska b. 1822.
Now looking to find when Stanislaw passed and where her parents and other siblings went to. Cannot find any records. There were Jan b. 1842, Michal, b 1846, Teofil, b 1847, Pawel, b 1849, Franciszka b 1851, Marianna b 1855 and Paulina's twin Katarzyna. Of course I am still looking for birth records of Julius Alexander and Minnie, they do not appear to have been born in Uscianki. If you can find any information on these it would be appreciated.

The Julian who arrived in 1909, declared he had been before in the USA, in 1901 and in 1905, and mentioned Shenandoah, PA, as his final destination. His last residence is hard to read, though it surely starts as GAW... Another Kondratowicz came from Gawrich, actually Gawrych-Ruda, north of Augustow and about 20 miles from Jeziorki and Uscianki. His entry in 1901 must have been through another port, possibly Philadelphia or Boston, but I don't have an Ancestry subscription to check this.

In www.stevemorse.org I have located one who arrived in 1905. He was going to Allegheny, PA. I don't know how far Shenandoah is from Allegheny. He was 10 years older than the other Julian, but sometimes ages on ship manifests are not accurated.

Julius arrived in either 1901 or 1902. He married in 1905 to Margaret Gregory (Gregorczyk). Paulina did come. to the US in 1913 she was born in 1869. According to the Social Security application I just received He said Paulines maiden name was Vishinsay and his father was Stephen which could be Stanislau. Could she have been married before? I also am not sure who Julian is? I also do not know what my grandfathers middle name was. His Social Security application says Hal.

Paulina also declared she had a brother in Poland, Pawel Miszewski, so this should be her maiden name.
Was Julius Alexander married to a Bronislawa?
Did he came in 1909?
If he was married to a Bronislawa, then I have very good news:
She came in 1913 and declared her birth place as Jeziorki, which is a place 5 miles west of Augustow and 10 miles north from Orzechowka (declared by Julian as his last residence). Just 1 mile southeast of Jeziorki there is a villagen named Uscianki (except for the G, it does sound like Uschanke!) Too many matches to not be them.

Yes that all sounds so close. Guschanke is what is written on his WWII draft registration however, who knows how someone heard what he said. I do no think he could read or write. How would I find out more information about this? Thanks so much for you help. On the Michalina it came out Minni Juzenes then came out Junes on the US census papers. But you are right Paulina did say her ticket was paid for by her daughter but did not see daughter on the manifest just Josephina and Edward. I did apply for my grandfathers social security application and it is supposed to have his fathers name on it.

I found 4 entries for Julian Kondratowicz or similar spelling and all mentioned his place as Orzechowka. There are four Orzechowka, one of them near Augustow. And in Augustow, in 1886, a Stanislau Kondratowicz married Paulina Wyszynski. Could it be that she declared her maiden name and someone wrote it down on the ship manifest as her birth place? The spellings and soundings are close. Also, 2 miles north of Orzechowka there is a place named Tajenko. Could it be what you read as Guschanke? Paulina said her ticket was paid by her daughter Michalina (married surname looks like Jyczanas?) Just guessings...

My maternal grandfather was born in Guschanke Poland according to his WWII draft card, his name was Julius Kondratowicz born on March 3, 1886. His mother Paulina born about 1869 came over to the US from Wisczcanski, although the spelling is difficult to read on the manifest. I do not have a name for his father as she is listed as a widow.
