Hi, I noticed that you had no reply yet to your query. I think your photo was taken in the Theatre Square in Bydgoszcz (also once called Bromberg). The theatre would be directly to the left of the women.

Do you have a date on this photo? My guess is around 1935 - it does not look like war-time and according to the State Archives in Bydgoszcz the theatre was heavily damaged during the war and demolished in 1945.
http://www.archiwum.bydgoszcz.pl/gal/h3bydgoszcz-taka-kiedys-bylah3,3,id,19.html

The photo below shows the same building in the background of your photo - both were probably taken about the same time period - you can just make out the name Alfred Hubschmann in the building in both your photo and the photo below. This building still stands today.

I also attached an old postcard showing the view of Theatre Square, but not sure of the year. The image is low resolution, but the women appear to be wearing dresses that look to be around 1918...?

You can read about Theatre Square and see more photos at:
http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plac_Teatralny_w_Bydgoszczy

or translated into English: http://tinyurl.com/csc6d2u

I hope this helps you - I do not know this town. I was curious about the name on the building and found the information about Bydgoszczy via some internet researching.

I think the woman on the right is Wanda Cholewinska from Palmierowo, but not sure on location. Wondering if anyone recognizes building in background.
