I agree with everyone RCorbin and what all the folks that tried to help.
They are my 2x great grandparents and my Gramps is Rudolf aka Robert J Slodek! I'm still confused but looking at it through a fresh set of eyes is awesome to read. Thanks everybody!

"Rycow" appears to be the last residence per the manifest. Are you saying that "Chryzop" is one in the same? If so, wouldn't it be odd since it is the same person transcribing to spell it two distinctly differet ways?

My view of it is that adding H or CH to the beginning of a town name that begins in R will make only a slight change to the pronunciation. You have in that manifest three spellings of what I think are the same town. First, Rycow when it asked the family's last residence. Then, Hrinzow when they provided the name of their nearest relative or friend in the country from which they came (in this instance, their friend Wladimir Grucholski, "no street," in Hrinzow) and finally what you are reading as Chryzop which is also possibly Chryzof in the column for place of birth.

Baffling, isn't it? But I lean towards these all being the same place.

Hi everyone,

I find it confusing. The documents say quite definitely that this town was in both Austria and Russia. I also find it interesting that the family is listed as Bohemian, so perhaps a generation back there was emigration from a Czech town.

Sorry I cannot suggest any other town than the one that Barb has posted.

I notice, in the notes that you attached, that her obituary gives a very different year of birth (1870) than the document you provided a snippet of (1893). The year 1893 is improbable, given that she stated she arrived in 1907 and was already married, with children. Do you have an idea of what her actual year of birth was, from other sources?
