Selma Veronica Schulejko Mitrovich Yurchek
(born Nov.17,1889)Vilna Poland

Peter Schulejko - father
Petranella - mother
Joe - brother became a doctor and died while in the army Bronik - brother worked on a farm
Mary, Gertrude - sisters

Selma was the only one to leave her family and come to USA.
She did not hear from them after WWII.

Nicoli was Czar of Russia then and controlled the Poland part.
She left in Nov. 1913 to come to America, but did not depart until Jan. 1914, due to eye problems. She arrived in New York January 23, 1914. Adam Schulejko, her 1st cousin met her, but they called him Uncle Adam. She boarded a train to Youngstown, Ohio. She visited an old friend from Vilna Emily Kozlowa or Kozowski Packo. She met and married John Zmitrovich/Mitrovich in Feb. 1914. I am looking for any info on her, her family and her husband John Zmitrovich. Church records, birth records, census in Poland/Lithuania.

Thanks so much for your reply. My family and I had seen that on ellis island manifest, we had no evidence that was actually him. We are in the process of seeking out the marriage license for him and Salonija from the Diocese in Youngstown. There is no one to actually speak with that knows anything about his family, (ie parents or siblings) We just simply do not know if any descendents are still in Poland, Russia or Lithuania. Seeking ancestry becomes very frustrating at times, and then there is the language barrier. Again I appreciate your reply and your assistance.

There is no other evidence that any other member of his family came to USA. His wife came over in 1914, she was the only one of her family to come to the USA. I have seen your post in another forum, with no replies.
Here is what I have found:
Her polish name is Salomea (Salomeja on the ship manifest). The rest of information about her is what you posted on the other forum.
As to John:
Jan Smitrowicz, 35 years old (his age matches) , arrived at Ellis Island on January 9, 1909. Departured from Bremen, ship SS Brandenburg, on December 26.
He was from Gorni, Lithuania (russian partition at that time) and married to Maria Smitrowicz. His destination was Wharton, NJ.
He was going to meet Iwan Kahanowsky (I cannot read his relationship).
