Your question about the name Slapinski has already been answered here http://forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?t=1610 but I have noticed that this question remains unanswered.

Raulinajtys or Raulinaitis is a Lithuanian name and I have no knowledge or resources concerning Lithuanian names.
As for Chojnowski (feminine form: Chojnowska), it may originate from a place name:
Chojnice, Chojnów or Chojnowo, which go back to the root choja, choina (“fir, spruce”).

According to a map of Polish surnames ( https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/ ), there were 3625 men with the name Chojnowski and 3996 women with the name Chojnowska – most numerous in north-eastern Poland. See https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Chojnowski

mentions Chojnowski of Chojnowo (in the Przemysl Region), dating back to 1782, and Choynowski of the Slepowron coat of arms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Alepowron_coat_of_arms), from Chojnowo, dating back to 1546.

Hello everyone,

Can anyone help me find the origins of the surnames SLAPINSKI, RAULINAJTYS and CHOJNOWSKI?

My father Piotr Slapinski was born in the small village of Jozefowo (Podlaskie Voivodeship, County Bialystok, Gmina Grodek) in 1922. His father Grzegorz Slapinski was also born in Jozefowo in 1895. Grzegorz married Marianna Raulinajtys (born 1902). Grzegorz's parents were Konstanty Slapinski (born 1857) and Klementyna Chojnowska (born 1862).

As far as I know they all came from the area of Jozefowo and were of the Roman Catholic faith.
