I have received the obituaries of Jozef Bielanksi (d.1941) and his wife Bronislawa Lenart Bielanska (d.1958). As I mentioned on this forum, I was curious exactly how they were related, because my grandmother Aniela Lenart was going to "uncle Jozef Bielanski", Chicago, when she arrived in 1913. Jozef's obit didn't mention his parents, but at least one Chicago document named them - Vincent and Magdalen. Bronislawa's obit named her mother Franciszka, but didn't name a father. I was told that Aniela's father Klemens' mother was named Regina, so it doesn't appear that Bronislawa and Klemens were siblings...

I'm sorry that I didn't see your question until today, and I'm sorry that I gave you a bad link. I'm going to go back and shorten it. You probably know this now, but I thought I'd answer it anyway. To search what microfilms Family Search has, when you are at https://familysearch.org/ go to catalog, and then enter a place name.

Yes, I see that you are surely correct as to the location of Karol Bielanski. I have noted the information from the FamilySearch Film Library, have copied the appropriate pages of the Konigen Luise manifest, and John Bielanski's draft registration card.

Please tell me how you searched FamilySearch so as to find that they have microfilm of the Laszki Murowane church records. I tried on my own because initially the link didn't work -- and failed completely. (Then I cut and pasted the URL, and that worked fine). But I would still like to know how you did your search.

Best regards,
Thank you so much Elzbieta!
Tekla, I believe Elzbieta has found the correct place, and if you know of the Family History library, they have filmed some church records from Laszki Murowane. Here is the link:
http://tinyurl.com/dxqdwvs

Look at the last name on the list for Lazski Murowane (Stara Sol) Austria, Galizien. The Starodal that I read on the ship manifest is Stara Sol - this was where Karol Bielanski lived. It was in Austria at the time of Jan Bielanski's emigration. All 4 of the different names for Lazki Murowane are of course the same place. I hope this helps you. I'm not sure the dates that they have filmed will or not, but eventually they might as you learn more.
Best of luck!
The place is probably Laszki Murowane, it is 8 km distance from the center of Lwow, today in Ukraina.
Three names for Lwow: Lemberg, Lwow, and in Ukrainian Lviv.
Galicia, Austria.

BTW, Czarny Dunajec is 377 km from Lwow.

Kind regards,
I think this is the John Bielanski that you are looking for on his WWI draft card (born 1891). I haven't tried to find the birth place that is written there yet.
Have you seen Jan Bielanski on a ship manifest at the Ellis Island site?
http://tinyurl.com/churvo2
That's the first page. There is a second page. He is going to his brother-in-law Tony Boj in Cleveland on December 6, 1912. His contact at home was his father Karol Bielanski. The town he is from is indexed as L. Murowane, Galicia, but I don't know if that is correct, I didn't find it on a map. Also it gives his birthplace as something like Starodal. I probably don't have that deciphered correctly, as I also did not find that on a map. I will keep working on it, but maybe a better set of eyes, or someone that might be familiar with the villages might be able to help you out.

I am searching for Karol Bielanski (wife Maria Stepanczyk); at least 3 of his children emigrated to the United States: Jan, (1891-1934) Antonina (1886-1929), and Katarzyna (1881 – 1918). I have records for these three in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio and several of their descendants. On his marriage record, Jan's birthplace is given as Austria -- and I suppose that this was a piece of Poland that at that time was belonging to Austria. Jan's wife was Magdalena Strzelbicka, Katarzyna's husband was Anton Buj (Boj), and Antonina's husband was John Yacyszyn.

Wow, thanks. I really do need to dig further. So far I see in the Dziennik Chicagoski Death Notice Index that Brownislawa Bielanski died 10/10/1958. In the notes section of the index was the surname Lenart. Also, I believe I found Jozef's death information at Family Search. He died on August 28, 1941, his wife's name was Bernice, he was born in Zaluczne and his parents were Vincent and Magdalen Bielanski. I'm going to send for Jozef and Brownislawa's obituaries from PGSA. I think it's possible that Brownislawa could be a great aunt of my grandmother's. Her age is actually in the right generation to be an aunt to my grandmother, but maybe if she was a much younger sister of my great-great grandmother Regina Lenart. I don't know any of Regina's siblings names yet.

OK I'm going to quit after this post I found an Illinois death record for Frank Bielanski (father Joseph from Zalusna, Poland) born 1909, died 4 May 1947 in Chicago. Mother is listed as Bernice (common American version of Bronislawa) Lenart from Zalusna Poland. Looks like Aniela's father did have a sister or two... If all information provided everywhere is correct. ~PL

Found Jozef on Ellis Island. He’s indexed as Jozef Biclanski from Jalnckne, Gal. on line 16. Arrived Mar. 7, 1911 on the Kronprinz Wilhelm from Bremen, traveling with Feliks Fitek. Looks like he was going to his brother Jan B. in ? (couldn’t get this page to load & the writing is awful on this manifest) but probably Chicago, as that’s where Feliks was going. Left behind wife Bronislawa in Jalnckne.

Found at Ellis Island on lines 10-13 (excellent handwriting on this manifest) Bronislawa Bielanska, daughter Karolina age 9, son Jan age 6, and son Franciszek age 2 arriving from Antwerp on the Lapland on June 12, 1911. They were going to husband/father Jozef Bielanski at 1724 17th St. Chicago. Left behind sister P. Belina in Zalucze, Nowy Targ.

Looks like by 1920 Karolina was living away from home, perhaps married. If you can find a marriage record for her (or the 2 daughters born in the US), you might find Bronsilawa’s maiden name. Perhaps on familysearch as they have all those Chicago Polish church marriage records - or maybe Ute will look; she seems to be the expert on finding those Chicago marriage records . ~PL
