Thank you very much for the information. Actually, my source for much of my Orzechowski genealogy information comes from a college professor in the state of California, U.S.A. who has done an extensive amount of work with Polish genealogy. Her website is www.jwdupon.net/genealogy/polish.html

I (and many other individuals) are deeply indebted to her for the information she has amassed. I also wanted to thank you for the link to the map of the Sierpc area. It has a wealth of information on it. Our Orzechowski ancestors came from many places on this map. Jasien and Tluchowo located near the bottom are two of those places. Another is Tupadly which is referenced as being off the map to the bottom left. Would you be able to specify a map link that has this area on it?

Based on your information, I believe one place is Grodkowo (very close to Kosenice, see map attached). Native speakers could tell us if Grodkach would be the correct declensioned form.

I think that 'Rumian" is, actually, Rumunki and there are many places in that area, usually preceeded by other name.
It would be interesting to know what is your source about these places. In advance, I can tell you that the ending -ach is a declensioned form, so the place must something like Grozki (assuming your source has not misspelled the name).
Thank you very much for the reply. I believe Kazanice is most likely the town that my ancestor was born in. Thank you for the link to the Polish Wikipedia article on the town. It is much more extensive than the English Wiki article. In the translation of the Polish article, it appears to state that Kazanice has preserved several dwellings from the time of the birth of my Orzechowski ancestor (around 1780). Perhaps some day pictures of these will appear on the internet.
Thanks again for your help.
Hi,

What about Kazanice "a" instead of "o" ?

Kazanice does exist, it is close to Lubawa, definitely Prussia from that years.

My paternal grandfather was Mateusz Orzechowski, born in 1881 in Huta, near Skepe. I have been able to trace all his paternal and maternal ancestors back to the late 1700's. The entire family lived for most of the 1800's in the area near Skepe, between Plock and Lipno. Towns and villages included Jasien, Tluchowo, Oboz, Huta, Zaduszniki, Bachorzowo and Gojsk. The information I have indicates that my grandfather's great grandfather, Maciej Orzechowski, was born in Kozanice, Prussia in 1778. I have not been able to identify the location of this town. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you for any help.
