Hi Sophia,

Thank you for being my eyes and transcribing the manifest. Least now we know the name of the town for Jozefa. Maybe Joe can find her birth record from that town.

Thanks again,
Hi Joe,

The indexer for the record that Trish found called it Dyleno. I read it yesterday as Tylewo. Let's meet in the middle, then, this morning and go with Dylewo. I am attaching an image of a map where you can see a Dylewo north-northwest of Ostroleka, just up route 53. To the west of Dylewo is a Baranowo, which seems promising as the other town mentioned in this manifest. Interestingly, there is also a village named Orzoł nearby.

Hi Joe, Sophia, and Barb,

I found Jakub Kaminski's 2nd wife, Jozefa Golumbiewska's ship manifest. Jozefa is on line #18. I need another set of eyes to read the record. Even the transcriber had a tough time transcribing the record.

I can see Jozefa is going to Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Please note the manifest was all one big record. I had to spilt the record for it to upload to the forum. I have the original record.

Thank you for your help!
I envy all of you for being able to speak and read multiple languages. My father and his siblings were bi-lingual (out of necessity...because my grandparents could barely speak English, so almost all of the communication between them and their children was in Polish). When I was growing up, my father and his siblings would often sit around the kitchen table speaking Polish to each other. I assume that this was to make sure that no young ears overheard what they were saying.

My loss!

Thank you!! The ancestors of my father's parents has always been a kind of black hole for me. Mostly because of timing. As you can see my father was Ewa's youngest child. She and Jacob both died by the time I was 3. My father died when I was 25, and I never got to talk with him about his parents or their families. I did get Ewa's birth record during my last go around with this forum. I had Marcel translate them for me and they are included in the family tree.
I am attaching a copy of an e-mail that I sent out last Friday. I did my best to translate (through the computer) my request for research into Ukrainian. I am waiting for a reply.

Warm Regards,
You are right to not trust everything that AI comes up with. I find that the AI engine constantly goes off on tangents and I have to re-direct it back to the area that I want it to investigate. However, with a little knowledge of your subject this does not appear to be too difficult of a task. As I said before, even though the AI will not provide the cite-able documents for you, it will point you directly at them so you can go get them yourself. I was leary/skeptical at first, but when I was working on my mothers family tree (Clark) I was actually able to use the AI-generated document locations to go to the town clerk's office and look up the documents. Once found, it was an easy task to pay for copies of the documents (or sneak pictures of them with my phone). Once I had the document I could develop the correct citation.

Warm Regards,

Hi Barb,

You will need to send me your e-mail address so I can have Ancestry send you an invitation. Family Tree Maker is not just a picture, it is a full-fledged genealogy program. The program automatically syncs with the Ancestry tree and also with the Family Search tree, although I've noticed that the Ancestry tree will add/delete people and media automatically, while the Family Search tree will not.

Anyway, send me your e-mail address and I will send you an invitation to my Kaminski family tree on Ancestry.
Warm Regards,
Thank you, Sophia. I don’t trust everything AI comes up with, but I wanted to be 100 % sure that I have the correct information. Critical source evaluation is important!
Ananii Frantsevich Kaminski could be a match. That means his father was named Franz. Jakob’s father was also named Franz.
