I just now saw the post, over a year later! I will definitely look into this as this is the first and closest I've gotten to finding my great grandparents homeland. I so appreciate you!
Thanks everybody for information about Konarzewski surname! My grandmother from mother side was Konarzewska - the oldest known grand-grand father is Apollinary Henrih August Konarzewski
(Аполинарий Генрих Август (Михайлович)
Конаржевский) He was sent to Russia in 1863/64 after Warsaw rebellion. If anybody can help to find any more information, I'll be very grateful!

                                      Kari,
I am putting your information from your profile here. I think that the forums are read more than the profiles. You wrote:
'My maiden name is Konarzewski. My great grandparents came to the USA in 1905. It is hard to read their hometowns on immigration papers, but it resembles Bolechow as it is written Bosolewo on my g-grandfather's April 1905 papers, Bolszovska on my g-grandmothers July 1905 papers and Bolezewo on a friend's, Maciej Klimczak's papers in 1906. My g-grandfather's sister was married to a John Galecki. Her papers state that her place of birth was Bresso and her children Boranowska. Boranowska was also her last place of residence. My cousin has told me that the marriage between my g-grandparents was an arranged marriage. They did not have a lot of money so I don't know if arranged marriages were common outside of the wealthy.'

If you are looking for the village, or want to be sure of the village, if you can scan and post any documents here for Polish Origins members to look at. I think it's helpful to have others look at it. Based on what you wrote, I want you to know that there is a village named Bolszewo. That seems to be close to what is on some of your documents. The LDS has filmed church records for Bolszewo. Look here:
http://tinyurl.com/bwtym7l

They have also filmed records from Bolechow, but there appears to be more than one village by that name, and I'm not familiar with any of them:
http://tinyurl.com/c4bzsms

To answer your question about an arranged marriage, yes, I've heard about people that didn't have wealth that had arranged marriages (not in my family that I know of).
My great grandfather Kazimierz Tenczar supposedly came to the US in 1895 and my great grandmother Honorata nee Januszek(Little Busia) in 1897 (although I can't find documentation of those dates, found them on the 1920 census). Little Busia's mother's maiden name was also Tenczar and DziaDzia and Busia's home villages were only 3 miles apart. I have wondered if this was some sort of arranged marriage but they didn't get married until 1902 in Chicago. The marriage certificate from the church is the oldest document I can find on either of them at this point.

It's interesting to hear about your great grandmother's marriage being an arranged marriage. A cousin of mine told me the same about the marriage of his grandparents. I started a discussion about that here:

My maiden name was Konarzewski, my great grandparents immigrated in 1905 and immigration papers show the spelling as Bartlomiej Konaszewski and Franciska Konaszewska (maiden name Urbanski), yet they used the Konarzewski spelling in the USA.

Would the spelling differences affect my research attempts in Poland? Are there hints within a name and where should I start researching?
